If you want to carb it, couldn't you like, PM scubaman and see if he's interested in making a junkyard run?
Jamaica, mon, the Metros are carbed.
:dunno

Unless I'm like, TOTALLY misinformed...

On my 93 I unplugged the IAT, MAP, O2 and TPS. Car started and ran.

Probably not, if things go smoothly.

I actually pursued this a bit this afternoon. Since the ignition system is now standalone (nothing but the distributor and coil are needed to make spark with the older setup I installed), I was strongly considering going that way. But the selection of downdraft 1bbl carbs I could find locally was pretty limited. The cost of the carb, the rebuild, and the time/expense of making a plate - plus the inevitable headaches of getting a mismatched carb to work right, and the fact that I'd probably be looking at using a vacuum-powered snowmobile fuel pump or some such - drove me from that option.

If all goes well, I'll be able to snag the parts I need tomorrow for much less than the carb project would have cost. And, hopefully, it won't be a project all its own to get going - just bolt on, wire up, and use. (I hope.)

Not quite as nice as having completed the swap with all the OBDII goodies intact, but if it works, who cares? Not like I'm going to mass-produce this setup or anything.
stop wasting your time and buy this

Junkyard run successful. Intake, throttle body, MAP, ECM, and other odds/ends for just under $50.

Hopefully I'll get to hook it all up tonight and test it. No reason why it shouldn't run once I do - at least, none I can see at this point.

So far I'm only at $250 or so for this project. A replacement used diesel is $1500. Managed to sell the remains of my old diesel for $500. So, I'm not too worried about the financial aspect.

Been caught up in other aspects of the project. Chief among them is getting the motor mount brackets modified to fit around all the accessories. The new harness is made, but I don't want to try running the motor until it's bolted down.

Hopefully soon I'll get to run it for more than a few seconds...

I'm really interested in this thread as I want to use the 3cyl drive train in a three wheeler. How is it coming?-----:news

Did you ever get this to run right? Did you make a schematic along the way?
