single nut at the top comes off and it all comes apart, including spacers strut bearing etc etc. before you take it apart you need to get a spring compressor and take the pressure off of the strut housing.

When you cut the spring you cut the LARGE end of the spring.

I cut 3/4 of a coil off of mine and it turned out just right.--still has a good ride and dropped the car one inch. didn't have any trouble with alignment.

if you don't know the composition and hardness rating you can't assume anything.

if they're hard rubber, they're probably something of an oem rating. polyurethane can be 40 shore, 80 shore, or 100+.

without spring tuning, strut valving, lowering, or suspension geometry changes you shouldn't notice any difference beyond anything that fixed a bad problem that already existed (like a missing or broken donut, dry rot, or generally squished to shit bushings.)

i like the red energy suspension 98105 end link bushings with the ny-loc nuts tightened just to the ends of the threads.

After cutting the spring there is no difference. It's the same as it was before I do not understand this witch craft....I took spring away and ended up with the same number....????

The reason it did not change anything is that the TOP part of a progressive spring does not come into use til the spring is almost fully compressed--which never happens with a geo.

did no harm. go back and cut a coil off of the BOTTOM COIL.
