Sound be a fairly reasonable fix. Be advised that a rust through hole is surrounded by 2-3 times of corrupt material.

Pretty sure they make stuff that neutralizes rust when applied.

Ok, I'll chat with my dad about it, he's good at fixing things like this. I saw a member use a pice of card board to get the shape of a hole then trace it to some metal cut the metal to the shape and weld it in, that was a good idea. |

The rusty metal extends at least an inch around that hole in every direction. Also possible that the hole you're seeing is a hole in the paint shell which is all that is left. Take to it vigorously with a stiff wire brush, you'll pretty soon see where you really stand. Get a TurbineTech lower brace. It'll hold everything together in the proper alignment as you patch it back together. |

It's not a paint shell I poked it with a screw driver it's solid but crusty, turbine tech brace? Dear Santa: I've been a good boy this year I've saved lots of gas in my metro and recycled my oil. I would like to ask for a few more things to save gas, a turbine tech brace is what I ask. If it's one more thing I may a G10 turbo would also be ok. I know my car has only 60 rein deer power but an upper strut tower brace would keep me on the hour. Edited by ZXTjato, Nov 22 2013, 02:37 PM.

the fubar'd pcv valve is now a gigantic vacuum leak. the pcv valve is actually modulated by intake manifold pressure vs crankcase pressure and spends a fair amount of time in it's closed position.the turbine tech brace mounts on the bottom of the front suspension and ties all the control arm points together to control torsional forces applied during cornering, and more importantly, braking. that really tightens up the handling, considerably more than a top strut bar. |

So with the drilled out PCV I thought it would idle high, nope it idles really high and hunts for idle. Stopped by the auto rip store and picked up a new PCV. I am tempted to hook the PCV to the air intake I have and the crank vent to the air box as well, eliminating the T hose that connects them and saving the PCV from carbon clogging. I had to review, your thread, but still not 100% clear. You bought a re-built? JDM? or re-built yourself? Either way, the PCV should not be clogging. UNLESS you're making short runs. Say less than 8-10 miles on way. I do and have to clean the PCV at least every oil change. Should probably clean it at the half way point too.Does the PCV clog goo look like mocha? Mine does. That's water vapor mixing with a little oil vapor. Takes a good amount of heat to burn it off. The crank case oil needs to get up to temperature to expel the contaminants. And it takes the oil A Lot longer, to come up to temperature, than the coolant does. About twice as long.I recently had the "ah ha moment" on my project. The Glow Shift coolant temperature gauge can push 180 degrees and the oil temperature gauge has barely moved. The longer, that they are up to temperature, the better. Or we clean the PCV and change oil more often. Seems more running means less cleaning.

Ok ill clear it up. The engine is 100% rebuilt my dad did the build for me. If you say you clean the PCV every oil change than it's probably my fault that it's clogged up because this is the first time I've cleaned it since the new engine (47,000) miles ago I suppose I was thinking that a PCV shouldn't clog on a new engine for a long time. The goo that comes out is a black paste that stains everything I replaced the PCV and from now on when I change oil bi-weekly I'll check that thing for cleaned and free every time. Oh and no I do not make short trips, 550 600 miles per week sometimes more Edited by ZXTjato, Nov 26 2013, 01:02 PM.

My PCV gets cleaned, every oil change, due to my short trips. Short duration oil change for the same reason. 2500 - 3000 tops for me. Your 100+ per day runs puts you in the 5000 mile plus club. Still, cleaning every 10-15,000 is not a bad idea.
Smart Ass! And you are lucky. Have as much fun as possible, with your Dad, for as long as you can. Mine left way too early. Edited by snowfish, Nov 26 2013, 01:36 PM.

![]() As many of you know my car was hit in the parking lot while I was at work. I park way out away from a cars for this reason. ![]() The door was pinned shut so to not ruin things further I decided best to take the fender off till something is worked out. ![]() So now this is what my pride looks like, good thing I have a girl friend because any girl see you pull up looking like this would want nothing to do with you. I did have one thought tho, be cool to get some video with a GoPro right over the wheel so you could see it move up and down as well as turning....make good clips for a canyon run. |

So today Gary stopped by and I got to see his green machine, sweet car. He helped me change my brake fluid and it was bad, black sludgy fluid. Did the Johnny mullet tip and sucked all the fluid out of the (one clear part) and added it back in then bled the brakes, added more sucked it out filled it up bleed some more. Got all the nasty stuff out clean and clear, thanks for the tips all. |
