With all the odds against me-aggressive driving-high speed highway runs- heavy car- 12" wheels on low gear transmission- stop and go traffic- the head light buckets removed with GT hood, all against me I still got 38.9 mpg last fill up. And mind you I drive that car like it's a free rental....

:shake so after dicking with this thing for a while and I could not get it to go together, I stopped and thought "what should I do" after pondering for a min why I can't get it to work I thought "what would my dad do?" Well my dad would measure things, and since I don't have that skill I held the parts together and look what I found...

Can you spot why I can not get the SRD pulley to fit????

What's that thing old people say? "Measure once cut twice?" Well I say measure it check it cut it wrong just to make sure you get it right the second time....

See how the key is off set on the original? :news Putting the two, back to back, will through the off set off even more. ^o) I bet the SRD pulley just needs a little, gentle filing. :gamerz Shouldn't take much. :shake Even my 3Tech under drive pulley needed just a little persuading to fit right. :thumb

Welcome to world of modding. :cheers

So first off we got the thing installed, I had to use an old 10mm crafts man socket because the new generation was so morbidly obese I couldn't get it to fit over the bolt and clear the internal wall of the pulley. Any way all installed tight and set.

Next we have the arm the alternator adjusts on, I went and bought a belt and it was the exact size I needed but that left me with no play to tension the belt with the few mm of stretch. Soon had this off drilled a Buncha holes in it then hacked away with the angle grinder to make a large adjust slot.

Stupid picture but there it is down there all tight correctly and the sun had just set on me so it just got dark at clean up time. Nice!

As a refresh of the project here is my cut down pulley (thanks to Demnic) and my new SRD side by side. Demnic originally had this cut down for me because I didn't have AC, so AC was removed.

You can see how nice it was to have the thin pulley for engine removal.

So if any one was wondering about the SRD pulley I feel as tho it gave my car a jump on the first 900-1000 rpm off idle, I'm not saying it gave it power but it seems to spool off idle quicker, that's about it.

Ah yes that's a good idea since I un-invented the key way, more stress on the stock bolts. Yea I'll pick some up for sure.

The metric equivalent, of a grade 8, is the 10.9 designation on the top of the bolt. Metric 8.8 is equivalent to a grade 5. :news

Good idea using the 10.9's since these are only torqued to 96 inch pounds. :gamerz Need all the shear strength we can get. ^o)

Next time try to come up for air & breath! :-/ :whistle :lol Project is looking good. :thumb :popcorn
