That's kinda where I'm at, no point in more HP when the car is incapable of reaching the end of its ability. I like the 12" wheels because they are so light and on a small motor they turn easy. I want bigger breaks but don't want to loose my 12" wheels. I love the 12s they slide all over and it's fun to slide the car around, like out of control but in control. |

So as the days pass I am not sure if my shocks have gotten worse or if it's in my head, I think they have magically gotten worse since last week or 2 weeks ago. I just went over the same bump for work and I knew it was a tuna boat but today was worse than ever at the same speed. I must have continued "bouncing" for 10 seconds today instead of the usual 6-8 seconds of ocean rider. Soon as that Chevy blazer gets out of the garage....I'll be in there first thing for my new struts. Then we shall see how the tuna rider bump handles |

the gas over kyb struts will take care of that "tuna boat" action. ![]() i've run monroe, ryder, bilstein, koni, and kyb struts on these cars. monroe and ryder struts don't last long enough, bilsteins and konis are hard to find and very expensive. kyb struts work great, last a long time (as long as you don't bottom them out and destroy the valving,) and are affordable. make sure that the foam bump stops aren't wasted. check my red vert thread to see what i'm doing to upgrade those bump stops. especially if you are running on lowering or cut springs, make sure that the struts' travel doesn't allow the shafts to bottom out. the kyb warranty is pretty clear about not being valid on a suspension drop of more than 1.4" (which is the same drop you'd get using h&r sport springs.)

![]() New fun exciting stainless parts and some brass lock washers....how cool is this! So these parts cost me 7.50$ and should provide me with hours of entertainment. The stainless hex bolts are for the aluminum pulley an ill use the brass lock washers to hold it snug. The posts and lock nuts are for a pice in the throttle body that some say can gain 10% CFM at WOT....so whatever I'll fix my intake and do some mod... |

![]() So I went from 1 bolt holding this down to now this.... ![]() I don't mean to like toot my own horn but I am super impressed that I did this, I did not need to cut the posts down, I used quality stainless and brass hardware, used some nice stainless wing nuts, filled the old hole and got this all mounted superb. I feel good about this! |

You nailed it right there. Nice job. That car is yours, no doubt about it. I am looking forward to watching it become more and more yours as time goes on. Like the thread title says "Built not bought". I am all about that.

So I am now done with my little modification of that part. The cost of the hardware was 2$ studs 20¢ washers 1$ in nuts 80¢ for wing nuts. 4$ total for this part of the project, the entertainment lasted me about 2hrs 10 mins. (I'm slow I get it) so at 2$ an hour for entertainment that's not bad at all. A movie is probably like 12$-15$? Something like that for a 2 hour movie? That's expensive. So for my 1 hater of my "expensive pointless mods" I'd say it was a fantastic 2 hours and a not wasted 4$ because those 4$ continue to provide me joy and pride that I did something cool. |

![]() I have this 375 watt power inverter box, if I modded the plugs to be in a diffrent location and the power switch I could have AC power in my glove box, I could plug stuff in to charge or run a small device if needed. Hear is what I was thinking.... ![]() There is a large empty space behind the glove box for my inverter to mount up, also there is room in the glove box to have some power out plugs, I could run the switch to one of the blanks on the dash some where. I think it would e a neat idea. |

I would say to leave the inverter housing alone, mount it where you want it, add a switch, or a relay, or a switch and relay into the power wire for the inverter and then run cables (very short extension cord) to mounted plug sockets in the glovebox or other location. |

your probably right MMM, if there were a switch inline of the power cable there would be no chance for any micro battery draw if the inverter were "off" and the short extension cord would probably be a better idea than fixed outlets. Things I can think of that I have needed power in my car for- Charging drill battery packs Cell phones/tablets? Mostly pointless junk Any one know what goes where that empty space is? Seems like a waste of space when in a small car there is not much to waste. |
