Congrats - with your blood baptism you have insured project success! Thankfully only a modest amount of blood is needed to do the job!

I can't imagine what it's like to remove a suspension bolt without a torch or a drill, extractor and rethreader or helicoil kit. That's what I thought just before I read that he had a touch of trouble undoing the bolt. The only trouble we have on suspension bolts is whether it breaks on the first application of torque to remove it or on the second.

yeah jato, we get it easy compared to all these guys. Mine arrived like 2 weeks ago but im waiting for the strut mounts front rear and inner/outer tie rods, if im going to pay for an alignment might as well make it worth it. |

![]() Let's get this started off right! Here we have a BACON sandwich with egg cheese fresh black pepper olive oil mayo and some drips of evenly spaced buffalo Tabasco on 12 grain bread. This is what we need for maximum geo performance. I been thinking of making a real how to on sandwiches in the how to section..... |

![]() So all the rust is cleaned up, painted and I'm headed to the place where I get bolts. Going to replace the bolts with stainless steel, so they won't ever rust again. While I'm there I should get some anti lock stuff for easy removal in the future

So the place I went to only has stainless in hex bolt, the pinch bolts were large for stainless so I got galvanized 10.9 hard bolts and lock washers, I think I will be ok for years to come with that. |

![]() And that's some good work right there. ![]() Now the sway bar links can be a pain in the butt, I use some wax from a toilet ring we never used to hold the stuff together upside down. Then when I got to replace things or service the wax is magically gone.... |

So here is the break down of parts Front KYB Gas struts were 59$ And change Rear KYB gas struts were 57$ And change Military discount plus promo in store was -44$ off the struts Then on top of that huge discount the mail in rebate gave me another 40$ off! I thought for sure they would reject the rebate because I got a discount at the counter for some napa pro mo. So yea that is one CHEAP up grade. Has any one ever seen that show extreme coupon clippers or whatever it was? I feel like a super shopper because I got struts for 8$ PER WHEEL!!! Edited by ZXTjato, Apr 4 2014, 03:25 PM.

So after a little spin around the block the car feels more stable in a nice turn. Then while I was out whole road to myself, doin about 20 mph swerving hard left and right the car feels like that "dive" is gone. The way it used to be felt like the front would dive hard and be more mushy feeing, now it's responsive like a new car, bumps are less jarring and the ride is smooth firm and controlled not harsh at all. Over all I would say it was well worth replacing the parts. I am asking myself why i didn't do it sooner. Thanks for reading guys and gals next project is probably something stupid, got all this time off I planned to go to Utah to hang out with my dad but that fell through last night. So I think I will try and build my speaker enclosures with some fiberglass I bought, this will be fun. |

![]() Not car related but I have decided I need more storage in my room, so I've come up with a plan to build a "stage" and I will be able to store all my car parts under this stage. The entertainment center chairs TV games and things will go on top of all this fram work. Storage under and living on top. I have lots of geo parts to put unde here. |
