Paint the entire rim in flat black then paint just the back side in gloss black.

Paint the outer part of the rim with some gloss red that matches my red car best I can. The tape is peeling but trees more tape under it so it's good. The valve stem I'm just going to have to do something with because I couldn't mask it off.

Dude, that is one epic entertainment setup.
:rocker thanks i got 2 doors a hatch 2 rear seat backs 2 rear seat butts bins of parts interior plastics bumpers roll of carpet for the car bag of padding and foam for projects bunch of speakers few 12"s and a 15" few RC cars some clothing bins and some other junk that was in boxes under boxes. it was the best storage idea yet. had to remove my large doors off the clothes so those huge flat doors went against one of my walls so that way they are out of the way and not outside. oh also got to mention the deck was all douglas fir that was about to be junked, re use re cycle :cheers

With a small screwdriver and some lube you can pop the valve stem out from the inside. Or, if you just want to replace it, tear it off and put a new one in.

:ermm: really? Duh I wish I would have known that before I painted it. I thought when they are in they need to be replaced on removal. I didn't want to replace it because I'm going to start burning up some old tires. I have a DIY tire changer and them I have wall mart balance them. Free tires that I can run for a while, till they go flat or cords show.

So thanks to a harbor china tire changer I saved my self 10$ if I do 3 more wheels the changer payed for itself. Only thing left is a balance. Savings baby :cheers

So why do you do the front in flat black and only the back in gloss?
I'm sure you have a reason... :hmm Even if it's just "I think it looks better that way!" :lol

Good question M- the gloss seems to repel dirt and grime better than the flat black. Flat black is so so so so SOOOO hard to keep clean in the desert. I love the flat black tone so I wash the front by hand and spray out the back side best I can. I just like the look of a flat black tire that nice shiny red ring then that same color flat black in the center with some shiny lug nuts. You all make fun of me for keeping the 12" wheels but I love em ;)

I actually wish my car was blue, I had an old blue geo and I loved the color so much more than red, if I had a blue geo I could do my rim ring in electric blue or graphite with a black center. It would look good to me. Flashy yea but if some one stole my rims they are just steel and not worth any thing. Sporty rims I would be afraid of theft.

Aha, so it is "I think it looks better that way!", coupled with simpler maintenance. Fair enough! :)
