Just so my suggestion is clear, the stuff I've seen, all they use is the stretchy fabric and then bondo it smooth if necessary. No fiberglass mat at all (ought to be nice to not deal with the itchy stuff anyway). This is just based on stuff I have watched over the years, no personal experience, but I watched carefully as it seemed a good skill to know how to do "just in case".

So this time I used little strips of T-shirt material for the fiber. First I coated my mold then layed the stops on tr wet resin, continuing to work from center to edge soaking the pice, one pice at a time till I cover the entire mold in 2 layers, I had to mix more resin 3 times. So when this cures up I'll pull it off and see how it looks.

T-shirt worked great thanks for the tips guys. I'll get this thing figured out and mount my 6" speakers for that maximum clarity B-)

i used to make speaker pods by cutting out rings to screw the speakers to and setting them away from a mounting board using dowels. then i would stretch the tee shirt material between the rings and the base and brush them with fiberglass resin.

you can get really nice contours using that technique. ;)

Well??? It seems nice? Idk, not real good at this so to get results of any thing but fail is good right?

Seems lagit

Now I got to figure out if I should vent these or seal them up. If I vented i would do about a 1" hole in the back side. I may want sealed as well because I have 2 15" subs that are vented and I don't want to ruin these speakers sound quality with all that air moving around them....hmmm what to do what to do :x

i would look into an aperiodic membrane for the rear of the enclosure. it will help out with the bass response coming from the driver. it will make it sound better in the long run. just cutting a hole will not make the speaker sound any better.

Ummmmmmmm....so cut a hole in the enclosure and put like a sponge in the hole???? I'm still new to car audio, all I know is I love powerful systems that sound amazing.

yes a sponge will work just make sure it is attached to the enclosure and does not fly out when the speaker is playing. like sandwitching it between two layers of carpet. not quite sealed, air will flow through it but at a slower rate. kind of like a passive radiator in a home subwoofer.

Ok so it didn't turn out how in my mind I wanted, I tried any way. The speaker enclosures are located in the upper corners of the body. It was a pain to fish all the wire through the door pillars, tere are layers of metal...

Guess the easy way would have been to buy speaker boxes for this mounting position. But it's ok over all I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Of 10, not real proud of it but worked hard enough to not scrap it, 50/50 on the line lol

Oh and I ripped my seat....you can see the ripped flap hanging

So after a quick bump session the system over all is LOUD-ER than before, those speakers at head level give the listeners clear untainted vocal high mid, door speakers are fine but point at your leg dash speakers point at the floor...any way these are running cross over on bass cut, so little bass goes through them. Got them hooked up to a super old pyramid gold with a 40 amp fuze....like what 80 watts per left and right? Any way it's loud and clear, just how I like it, my fidelity.

When I got my first blue 4 door geo I was getting 50 and beyond after my dad tuned it up. Got this red car I used to get 50 ish then I added 4:39 on 12" wheels and I've dropped to around 42 mpg...so take a 8+ cut for fun :)

If there is one thing I wish my car was better....I wish the transmission would not leak oil.

Hurry and snap a picture while it drains!

Now the plan is to put some ATF and motor oil in it and while the car is on jacks idle it in gear for 30 seconds or so to swish all the crap out then re drain it. After the cleaning out I'll put some gear oil in swish it drain it and then re fill it to level.
