I made the same mistakes!
Forgot my cam seal, AND put too much RTV on the valve cover gasket, and clogged that little passage up. :smackface

Oh, well, live and learn! Now you'll know for next time... :news

Love the enthusiasm and seeing someone learn and come into his own. Keep it up.

Even though some of your problems are self-inflicted, the important thing is that you are diagnosing and fixing whatever comes up... PRICELESS! :thumb
Do you have a FSM or are you winging it? :news Mistakes are great opportunities to learn, but they also take time that could be better spent reaching your goals.

Living proof that you don't really learn anything until you've f-ed it up yourself. That oil drainback hole in the cam bearing cap has been discussed to death here. B-)

So the idle on the car is wicked, it smells kinda rich at idle I'm not sure if that's normal or what but the idle is so cool, it's like a wanna be hot rod idle, low and lumpy. Makes the coolest sound idling I love this cam already :lol

Alright I'll see about a video, I uploaded a video to you tube for the first time in my life yesterday....

Alright so here is the next large step. I have a complete AC system and I'm going to begin service, cleaning the parts and insulating all the duct work under the dash. I'll be removing the dash doing sound insulation and putting in a new cancer free dash pad how exiting. I'm also going to see about rattle proofing the dash as well, any joints I'll use some double adhesive tape to act as a rubber buffer before tightening the bolts down. The AC syst will be charged with 134 and I'm hoping for cold blow AC with insulated and cleaned parts.

Open up the AC evap to find a mouse house, that can not be must go.

Ok so I am cleaning this in just enough water and vinegar to cover the fins. Note how the ends are sealed off so dirt and moisture can be prevented. I hope this helps to curb the smell, I want my AC to be super super fresh I mean like fresh! No dog breath no cat pee no dirty socks, cold clean air.

This bearing was nearly frozen up, so I sprayed it with WD and washed te grease out of it and rust. I tried to take it apart but idk whatever couldn't not get it. So I stabbed it with this tool and injected the bearing untill it squealed out every where so it's probably fullof grease now.

So since the seal was tore up a bit I gobbled it up with glue :)

Clean and shiny. That brace that holds the AC pump on was a BALL of dirty oil filth, took nearly a week of soak and clean soak and clean soak and clean. Cleaned up nice. The AC pump I cleaned with a wire brush and lots of time.....but looks good. Now watch it probly don't work....

So today I went to my buddy's house and my car was off a tooth on the upper sprocket. After that the beast had been unleashed! Metro has awoken from its fuel sipping life to be a growling beast for a metro. Thanks bronco!

-edit- I had not noted any change in power or any thing before bronco said that it SHOULD have made a huge difference, that one tooth off made the car a beast. So makes me wonder would it be a fuel sipper with the tooth back one and a power monster advanced one?

Sort of, yes, but not quite.

One tooth is 18°, twice as much as you'd want. :banghead

Same principle behind VTEC, when you're driving gently it changes the valve timing for mileage, when you romp on it, it changes the timing toward performance.

So yesterday bronco was helping me time tune my car he was getting after me for not changing the belt. I did not think a whole it about it because the belt seems fine and it's only got I think 58K on it (unless my rebuilt engine had a used belt) well today I was goin up this hill enjoying my new cam and I heard a loud pop little poof of smoke and started rapidly loosing power, no CEL no oil pressure lights just loading speed and no more power. I pulled over thinking ok what broke, I don't see any coolant or oil leaking so I limpped the last 20 miles home on little power. I get home pull it in the shop and I pull off this sweet trick bronco showed me got TDC after seconds and checked to find this......

He was right, I should have replaced my belt it's jumped a tooth over, so ok dude you win lesson learned. Replace the parts while they are off.

Honestly this last while of car work has been quite great, learned a ton I didn't know by making STUPID mistakes. :news going to remember these times...
