![]() So to help me remember how a AC system works I wrapped this line is blue, and the othe lines in red. Because an AC is a simple converter of property's change a state of mater and energy is released. I been reading books and packets, articles of information on air conditioning systems. This will help me remember how the refridirant moves in the system. ![]() So I was at broncos house and he taught me some information about distilled water and the electrical charge of it and how it attacks metallics. I read some article about how cooling systems have evolved in cars over the last 100 years lead/brass/aluminum radiators, brushless/brushed fans electric/belt driven. Then it talked about coolant and additives like glycol and some oil stuff. Any way I learned that "coolant" glycol is actually an insulator, but it changes the water so it boils higher or freezes even lower. Any way this article talked that pure water is second best at displacing heat. So I have run pure distilled water and I will try this "water wetter" protects parts it claims and raises boil point by a bit depending on how it's added. No freeze protection, not that I even care. ![]() The next bit of complaints come from this. Here is how it went down- LeDerp at wallmart sees oil for 18$ from super tec when suddenly a wild Rotella appears. LeDerp sees a mail in offer for 5$ off for the win. "Success" bought 2 jugs like a boss! LeDerp changes oil adds oil down to the last line on the jug like normal. LeDerp checks oil level and sees it's 1QT low.....LeDerp checks oil container and sees it's only 1 gallon ![]() You mean to tell me I bought 1 gallon and spent more than I saved??!!!! That is a complete rip off! |

I used to use the rotella oil in my car long ago because I liked it so much. At first when I used the oil (long ago) it would change very dark, after 2-3 changes it cleared up and became the normal caramel color. I was told diesel oil has cleansing agents in it that normal oil does not. I was looking for a thicker oil at wallmart I normally buy jug-O-supercrap full syn- but the oil I wanted was out of stock so I looked at quicker cake and mobile 1 they had what I wanted for my car. Then I spied rotella and then I spied the price tag. Rotella jug was 21$ mobile 1 28$ super tec 18$ then I spotted the save 5$ mail in offer. I thought ok jug of this for as much as that, deal. Wrong! It's 1 gal vs 1 and 1/4 gal. So basically the jugs are the same size as normal jugs and I assumes since every other brand sells 5Q this was no different. It was my bad for not looking but WTF are they selling 1 gal for that's stupid....oh well I like rotella brand any way. Edited by ZXTjato, May 21 2014, 03:07 PM.

Any way so I ran the rotella 15-40 diesel oil for around 70 miles then drained it and added super tec in. My car is jacked up, idk if the rotella knocked loose some crap in the engine or what. But I've lost power, can't get the car up to 50mph any more it runs strong at first then just craps out pings and looses power and starts to do this weird hiccup thing so I back off. I thought it may have been the timing so I changed back to factory pulley so I could get the time perfect and it's dead on, bought a timing light also. I seriously think I broke something. Looks like camp trip is postponed because the car is down.... |

Compression check? Also test your fuel pressure as you are driving up to speed to make sure its not a fuel problem. Also take a video of the car doing this so that we can get an idea.

Can you elaborate on this. Does the valve train get really clicky too?I know it sounds cliche, but............
Long shot here, but it could be an intermittent, partially stuck valve. Edited by snowfish, May 23 2014, 10:05 AM.

the factory specified oil is 10w30. 10w40 will be too high in viscosity in your heat. the holes that let oil into the hydraulic lifters are too small for heavy oil to get through properly. also, rotella oil has a high wax content and is specifically designed for diesel use. i wouldn't use it myself. you need to stick with oil that meets the factory specifications. high detergent 10w30 changed at the recommended mileage is just fine in any suzuki g family engine (5w30 for extreme cold weather operation.) |

Sorry for the long delay, went camping got the car all set right. Here was the deal, the hiccup was because the o2 sensor was open loop and not getting proper fuel. So yep all taken care of got some great mpg even with a stacked to the roof camping load and that cam. 40.9 climbing to flag staff then 54.6 to page 40.1 to Provo utah |

Not much to report with the car, got some great mpg even with my AC on and a car loaded for camping, had the dog an my gf with me so it was a tight heavy pack.![]() Rained on us there so my car was muddy filthy dirty. The turbine tec under brace is sketch off road because I was afraid of rocks the size of a baseball will hit it. So creeping slow avoiding rocks it was all good. ![]() Made it out to my dads place took my gf to the airport so she can fly home. Got my car cleaned up and feelin good and ready to drive over some pot holes here in Utah. |
