So I have thought over all the information given to me by multiple people of different standings. I have thought over all the information given to me by mechanics I trust an I thank them.

So my conclusion is run it till it dies. My engine is in great shape and I keep up maintain regularly. So I'll keep it in my mind that this issue exists but I won't do any thing different.

Also today is oil change day :)

So as today being oil change day I thought oh I have a jug of oil for the geo, NOPE! It was a "used" jug in the pile with the new jugs, oh well drive a different car for the day :lol

Forgot His Manpurse

I almost poured used oil in my engine one time. Always label, label, label. Or at least dispose of the used motor oil immediately. :D

Or do the sniff test!

Leaky nasty engines are my biggest peeve, I hate dirty engines I hate dirty cars. So when I saw this dust here it's time for a new gasket :)

Old Man

I guess I have become so damn old that only the REALLY important things get taken care of.

MickeyD's wrappers lie in the passenger floorboards til the wife gets disgusted and throws them on the garage floor.

plugs get changed regularly

Old recorded gas receipts stay in the cupholder til its hard to keep the cup in there.

Oil and filter are replaced before they are due.

Working in the garage yesterday I watched a bug fall down and hit the floor as she was flying by the front of my Geo. She was OK...got up and flew off after a few minutes. Turns out she was only 'faint' for a little while because she finally found her 8th great grandma who had been stuck to the front of the car for quite a while----Guess I gotta wash it before spring.

Checking all my lights and adjusting the headlights today. Winter coming up and the rains make it hard to see me as I whiz by.

Got a small water leak in the Verts top on the passenger side when it rains. Only matters when the wife rides along. Fixed it by purchasing a rain slicker for the wife to wear when she comes along.
She still bitches, but I point out to her that at least she is dry.

Brought all the air in my tires up to winter pressures today.

Wife is working today and I am supposed to take care of a few things around the house. Laundry piled up, garbaged needs dumped, dishwasher needs filled and run..........But then, as all the stuff above-----important things FIRST.

Sun is shining which is very rare in the fall on the Washington State Coast. I think I will take the top down and run down to the Oregon Coast for a cup of coffee..........YeP!! important things first.

I've never understood why people put all these aftermarket cams in their cars around here (here being GMF). Why improve upon the stock cam? If it aint broke don't fix it and the oem cams had nothing wrong with them in the first place. My 91 XFi has a stock cam/weight reduction and can easily crack 50 mpg so why do we insist on pushing that? Curiosity dun killed the cat you know! ^o)

Because tweaking is fun, and not everyone has an XFI cam to start with.

I'm honestly not surprised at the sight of some of these cam failures. The big auto companies spend millions of dollars and decades designing a single piece, something the aftermarket usually cannot replicate too often (but it does happen sometimes).
I never did like the look of those cut down center journals. The bearing surface is aluminum! Not a good choice to start with, why increase the load on it?

So I was not real thrilled to have to change these boots but the pinch bolt ball joint boot that came on the A arms got a hole in it....WTF they are brand new boots, any way I bought polyurethane boots and fixes this issue :coffee

The stock boots lasted all of 6 thousand miles....

Had a hole wearing in the seat from the many hours on the road. So I picked up a red "patch" at wallmart and iron it on. Driving and owning a metro is all about personality.
