most people say these subs are junk but i have loved them for the long time i have owned them. they are the alpine type S 15s dual coil ones. I never would have figured that leaving them in the hot car uncovered like that 1 time would wreck them, just goes to show how hot stuff left in the sun in a car can get, like an unprotected dash or steering wheel.

all subwoofers can be rebuilt/reconed if needed. you can get replacements parts but they will not perform like the original parts that were designed for the speaker. with alpine, you will not get the same sound quality as they make a great product. swapping them is the best IMO.

why not get a couple of paper cone Eminence subs from Parts Express? Eminence makes alot of the woofers for other companies, great product!

not sure what page to put this on because its a washer for the new house where i can finish my GTs but the washing machine ia in the red car. oh well any way here ya go, went to north phoenix and picked up a used washer, seemed like a good deal so i brought it home. was bout 70 miles away and thats probably the slowest ive ever driven home, 65mph the entire trip ugh so long and slow. on top gear i dont remember the episode but the 3 guys had super cars and the chalange was to drive in a city strip and the person with the LEAST amount of pictures taken of thier car was the winner.... im pretty sure i would have lost this chalange people were being stupid and unsafe trying to get pictures like it was the second coming of jesus or something. it was actually really making me mad, get up along aide of me or in front of me then turn and try to film or get a picture. few times i just put it in 4th and hammered down just to get away from stupidity. if i only had a dash cam to show what i was dealing with.

:lol no bounceing around, we dont have gross roads here just smooth endless hot pavement. the load was strapped down so good i could have probably done rally X or gotten in a wreck, it would have stayed put. i did add a reflective vest to the back after the picture tho, for that added saftey.

ok so i got gas the day i picked up the washer the 3rd and today is the 5th time for a refuel, with the washer and hatch being open like that, the normal high speed driving stop and go BS i deal with every day and todays wind storm, massive head winds i held it in 4th floored just to keep at 80 going up this hill and i refuse to turn off the ac. i managed 34 mpg the lowest mpg i have ever seen in my geo, so do the happy dance because i have a new LOW record :rofl

went on a little road trip to pick up some stuff from Tuscon, Driving from Scottsdale just a little 300 mile round trip after work. So i filled my car up with the best gasoline you can nearly buy from a pump, its 0 ethanol like 99 octane shell brand Vpower whatever whatever, and for the first time in idk a year i looked to see how much gas costs, payed 3.88 or something, i thought to myself i wonder how much normal gas costs? I buy it every few days and have no idea how much it is. Any way the story is i filled up on this gas and hit the high way and i learned something, my speedometer is 5 mph slow so when im doin 85 or 90 im actually going quite a bit faster :doh i learned this today. but my mileages is bang on im pretty sure. i was driving to Tuscon doin around 95 in this head wind ac on just cruising to some fleetwood mac picked up the items then drove back with the tail wind and oh boy was that fun, get that engine reeeeeeally spooled up with that triple number speed for miles and miles the ac on i got just at 35 mpg, now im questioning if my mpg is lower or higher than it is supposed to be. dont know guess i dont really care, also my gf managed to get a picture of some mountain az sun set whatever whatever stuff :) so even tho i was really hauling ass i still got good mpgs. it was a nice relaxing drive, just a few more miles under the cars wheels thats all

so one night when I went to pick Sarah up from the airport, was sitting in stop and go for an hour or so, by the end of my stop and go traffic I was getting some weird noise in the clutch chatter howling type of sound. So I figured I wore down the disk pad and it was time for a replacement. I ordered another exceed clutch kit on ebay. I'm off work today and tomorrow so its time to change the oil and clutch. I moved over the blue car and pulled in the red car. since I staggered the cars there is plenty of room around the front of the red car, kinda squeeze to walk between the cars but that's ok.

tight but fully manageable, close the gate and I have my own little private nook to work.

my forearms are fire from curling this engine out :lol

so when I got the fly wheel removed I cleaned it up and punched out the old bearing and installed the new one with a socket the same size as the outer part of the bearing, went together nice and smooth.

Posted Image

next I wanted to figure out what that chatter sound was, I think that the entire center part of the disc being loose has something to do with that, the springs are loose and rattle around, the splines to outer mechanism are clanky and rattily, so I guess that's what was making the sounds.

Posted Image

the disc I thought would be worn to the rivets but looks like it was fine, oh well ill hang it on my parts wall for fun now.

I hauled the engine out front for a good bath, I washed and scrubbed it up with soap and brushes to get all the road gunk off of it, brought it back in air hosed it dry and wiped it with a clean rag,

Posted Image

the oil pan was pitted so bad from all the road rocks, so a wire brush made quick work of the damaged front, and a fresh quick coat of paint made it look good again and help protect from rust.

Posted Image

the coolant tube had some patchy lookin spots on it so I wire brushed it down and re painted this and the coolant nipple for the heater core. just a quick job I didn't remove the tube just some news paper to protect my engine and let it spray. ^o)

Posted Image

got the fly wheel installed and torqued down then wiped it clean with a paper towel and some solvent to remove gooby prints

Posted Image

last I installed the new pressure disk and I was very confused at first but I figured it out, and after I figured it out from fiddling with it I had forgotten to align the disk and bearing so I had to loosen it up and re do it, BUT air tools made that quick and painless :doh
