![]() so i changed out my hubs for some other ones i had so i could repair and service these hubs off my car. i took them out took the axels out replaced them, changed the trans fluid etc. these hubs got a good long scrubbing and wire brushing, these were pretty rusty and i had such a hard time getting the bearings out, the most frustrateing thing, they were rusted in and would not come out, was so hard getting them out. ![]() in my struggles with the hubs my finger took a good smash between the hub and carpet i was working on, blood everywhere, i got a picture before it started to flow real good so you can all see ![]() brand new bearings ready to go in BUT WAIT!!! there is no grease in them its a good thing i looked before just going forward on this.![]() i had both gaskets off and used a large palm full of high temp grease then did the small bites of grease till it came through the bearing to the other side, all 4 bearings are packed with grease and ready to roll ![]() this is as far as i made it because i was working on the turbo wagon, dont freak out about the yellow paint, ill cover it up with black, now why use yellow if your covering it up? well this paint i got for free and its that industrial grade super tough paint so the super tough paint is theunder layer. now i didnt want to get paint in where the bearings go so i did a layer of grease that will repell the paint, i can wipe up after painting, should work in theory any way. ohhh i forgot to mention i did a full soak of rust locker on these as well, that took a full day to turn the leftover rust black, so these should be good for a long time, between bearings, rust lock, fresh grease paint its good Edited by ZXTjato, Jan 22 2016, 11:39 AM.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So I feel kinda bad for my red car, I have neglected it horribly due to working on my house driving so far to my job working on the blue car, I have not given her any attention in a long long time, starts every day as a drive the piss out of it on my drive every single day, load the car up with house stuff from home depot and just thrash the car. SO today at wall mart I bought the most expensive wax I could find on the shelf not because any reason other than the price and I wanted to buy my car something nice, think of it like a gift. Then I bought a $60 polisher that goes in a drill, its an orbital polisher and I am glad I got it. I started off by stripping the car of old wax oil dirt bugs and any contamination using a micro fiber and some floor cleaner, I squeegeed it dry then set out to polish, going very slow as to cover ever single spot evenly and do a good job. And honestly it was a huge stress reliever to just inspect and go slow and calm, like some sort of zen listening to the RPM of the drill and the whirr of the gears in the orbital attachment. Being sure to apply the perfect amount of product with the perfect consistent RPM and pressure it was bliss once I had finished the outside I cleaned out the inside using 409 and microfiber to clean up all the hand goober and dirt that had accumulated over the last many thousands of miles. then I used the shop vac to clean out all the rugs and carpet plus the dash protector and door pockets of dust and dog hair. after all the I did the wheels with some more microfibers and some spray speed wax for the clean non oily shine on the rims and Suzuki center caps. when the wheels were clean I cleaned the engine bay with a soft brush and some mild soap rinsed with a clean bucket and a new brush. Then I used MORE micro fibers to wax and polish the glass. My car thanked me

Dang! So shiny! I wasn't sure you'd ever wash that car again. I know what you mean about it being relaxing. I love cleaning my car. I'm going to do mine tomorrow. Mine doesn't look great even when washed and waxed, but it looks a heck of a lot better. ![]() Hey, I've got one of those wet vacs if you really want to get that upholstery clean.

its a light geo fly, has the weight ring cut off. a forum member Demnic actually gave me the fly for trade of a fly from my samurai. so its the small clutch kit not the big one. |

![]() ok so here we have the hub centers that the axel goes through and the disc mounts to. The points where the bearings make contact were pretty crusty so I cleaned them up super good and applied a generous amount of anti seize. I did not take pictures because of all the mess but before I installed the bearing I coated the inside of the knuckle with more anti seize and even the outside of the bearing that way any metal to metal contact was nice and coated. after installing one bearing a tiny tap at a time I got it down about 50% put the spacer in and packed around it FULL of grease. I installed the other bearing side with some small taps then off to the shop up the road I am welcome at and I had them press the bearings in for me the rest of the way so I gave him 20 bucks for stopping what he was doing for me when I got home I installed the center hub using a 30 mm socket on the inner race that way no pressure was put on the balls of the bearings and proceeded to tap them together the rest of the way. ![]() I know its not much to look at but this was a LOT of work to do the job better than factory and with minimal tools. New bearings not having grease in them is stupid, not having grease around the center spacer is kinda stupid, not having anti seize on the metal to metal parts is dumb. so doing all these little things takes time but its a job well done and now I can install them on my car until my dad and I get together so I can get my vert hubs

I see Suzuki thinks your time would be better spent kicking that blue ball around. ![]() Do you ever plan on putting some cement on the edge of your bay? That's a heck of a drop. ![]() I didn't help at all here, but it was cool watching someone with lots of experience doing this job. ![]() Shiny ![]() ![]() No shortage of grease on that bearing! ![]() Watching you work that Shoe Goo on the busted fog light was pretty intense, too. ![]() ![]() We bled the brakes on all four wheels after that. The front wheels were bad on his, but the fluid for the rear wheels wasn't as dark. Then, it was my turn to drive up the cliff. My brake fluid was worse. All better now, though. ![]() ![]() While I was there, I did help with one other little job. Did anybody know how insanely easy it is to add cruise control to a Yaris? I think this is true of most newer Toyotas. Just release three little clips to pop off the steering wheel... ![]() Then attach the switch and plug it in to the empty 4-pin slot. Done! All the wiring is already there, and the ECU is already programmed to handle it. I guess there are one or two upsides to an electronic throttle. Almost makes up for the five seconds it takes for the car to respond if you floor it.

![]() Ok so I kinda know what happened here but at the same time I don't really know. The story, when we changed my hubs I thought I had new shoes so I C clamped the piston back into the caliper and found out I didn't have new shoes so that left a large gap for the old shoes to fall out. When the job was done I lowered the car and went to roll I had forgotten about it and there was no brakes as the piston had yet to extend. I think when I rolled before I used the brakes the shoe fell out of socket and this happened. Now my brakes felt funny but stupid me I thought it was oil, finger prints, or left over residue on the brand new rotors and that's why they felt funny, we even drove around the block riding the brakes hopefully "burn in" the new rotors then we changed the brake fluid and it still felt funny, drove to work and the car felt like something was dragging I thought maybe I over did it on the axel nut because I don't have a torque bar that goes up to 129 any way I got home took it apart by candle light sifted through my junk found some old pads to put on the car as a good temp fix and today brakes felt amazing on new rotors, whoda thunk it ![]() ![]() so I did this mod and I know your all going to be like uhhhhhhh but hear me out, my air filter seems to get dirty in one spot more than others mainly in the front intake spot, so I did all these holes to keep the dirt evenly distributed around the filter.

With or without wings? (I'd assume the piston pushed it partially out and bent it in the process.) |
