Anybody know where I can source a new insert? I've tried looking on line and all I've found is for a 1.3. I took my manifold apart and the insert was almost completely blocked. Tried smoging it with just the rear but the NOx is to high. |

I actually took an old cat apart and stole the core out of it , reshaped it and used in the metro manifold. Passed smog and saved it for next time. |

High Nox is caused by a plugged egr valve or egr malfunction. and too much timing advance.

If the engine was anywhere near stock yes I agree, in this case however only having a large high flow 2nd cat is not cutting it and need to install the small first one. |

Are you talking about the pre-cat that's bolted to the exhaust manifold? If so, there's absolutely nothing inside of mine. It's just a big round hollow tube! Am I missing something.........literally?! |

Evin yes there is suppost to be a catalyst in the hole, a stock engine will pass with just one. Modified not so much. |

Well, mine is completely hollow. I wonder WTH happened to the honeycomb?! Is it removeable? Maybe a PO took it out. I remember talking to my smog guy before I took the car off the road. A new one, installed is $300......ouch! Another $300 for the second cat too. Thank you California tree-hugging enviro-nazi's! I think I'll just leave it as it is. The motor is brand new so hopefully it'll pass smog......this time! Edited by evintho, Oct 18 2013, 09:10 PM.

If you don't pass smog without it I have an extra cali exhaust manifold in great shape. |
