He looked at it all right but that's all he did-he needs to buy you a new timing cover-I get the impression you live in a small town with few choices in auto mechanics-

You are correct I live in a small town. I have another choice of an auto mechanic though, Would cost me a little more than $200 for them to look at the timing and correct it however. I'm getting a new exhaust system put on today, probably in an hour.

I hope that helps run the engine a tish better with better MPG as it seems to suck with MPG right now.

This is how someone elses engine is running. Would this be correct?

I just want to make sure that the way this engine is running, is running normally.

Thank you.

well I wish you lived close to me I would fix you up for free-why don't you have a go at it yourself it's not that hard-1. take off timing belt (post again if you don't know how) 2. turn sprocket on bottom with a 17mm socket until notch part of sprocket is at the 12 o'clock position (read my lips-FORGET THE SPRING) 3. make sure larger sprocket at top the mark is lined up with mark on valve cover 3. re-install timing belt. 4 re-set timing with your friends timing light. your mileage probably sucks because the engine is out of time-and hey my muffler almost fell of yesterday on the way home from work yesterday so we're in the same boat there-

small town mechs don't usually survive very long with a business model like that... I'd do it for free too. I talked a buddy through it over the phone with help from his Chilton (not the best, but will help save money). He said he only knew how to change oil. I told him to go do it, cuz I'd charge him $500. lol.

Seriously, give it a try on your own.

If you know how to spell Geo, you can do it. have your timing light buddy help. swap him favors, or ?? It'll pay off before very long. trust me!
