Egr sytem carbon build up; Cleaning Egr system passages

I need a safe easy way to clean the Egr passages any suggestions?

Remove the intake manifold and it take to a local machine shop for a hot tank cleaning. dont forget about the exhaust manifold to egr passage.

Or just remove the EGR and clean the passages with long steel bottle brushes. The long ones they use to clean passages in auto trans shops.

Go to Harbor Freight, they have a tool pack there with "bottle" wire brushes. Comes with brass, steel, and nylon I believe. Its like $8. I use it for cleaning out threaded holes and passageways. Works even better if you do it was some Carb cleaner or oven cleaner. Then rinse it out.

If you are looking for a source of brushes...
Head on over to the local gun shop...
Get a brush used to clean 1911 pistols.... It's generally a brass bristle brush about 1/2" diameter and like 6 or 8" long... works like a charm... Cost is cheap...

I did this myself last night... I got a good bottle brush over at the local Napa - $3.00.... Can 'O carb cleaner... Scrub scrub scrub... NASTY NASTY NASTY....

That + new modulator = no more CEL...
