So.... wish i had the motor savy u on here have.... dreamed of having a metro for years, GOT IT! Now looks like it may need a head gasket. Replaced the thermostat, ran the garden hose through the radiator, flows freely.... still pushes a pint or so out through the overflow every 100 mi or so........ but runs great!!??? Don't really believe in gunk sealers but someone suggested it. Opinions???? Someone also suggested 'loose' head bolts, or to give them an extra 5 lbs tork to seal the leak.... all that sound crazy or what?

How many miles have you driven? :news Maybe since you recently flushed & filled the coolant system, it's "seeking it's own level". :hmm

Any other symptoms pointing towards the head gasket? :popcorn

Personally, I wouldn't add anything to my oil or antifreeze that isn't oil or antifreeze. :)

210,000 mi, rebuilt at 187,000 by a shop, bought it at 206,000 no problems first 3000 mi, then began pushing fluid out threw overflow, bought a waterpump haven't installed yet, could that be it? it only overheats when its out of fluid, of course. (just once) for just a mile or so, when it first happened. :smackface Oil looks good, tailpipe seems good, no water out of it. Chevy shop recomends presure test, know it has a "leak" seems llike a waste of 50$ Is no leak other than the overflow.

I don't think a block sealer type additive would work in your case... However, if you are going to do it anyways-- I have used barsleak copper (with the flecks of copper floating in it) on a junker car I had and it worked... For awhile.

Fill radiator with water keep it full run the motor and watch for the bubbles to stop, If they don't stop , time for a head gasket.

Unless your want to replace your heater core, your radiator, and possible your engine,

DO NOT FOR ANY REASON USE ANY TYPE OF BLOCK SEALER! :oshit

Most of those products work REALLY well at sealing small holes. They just don't care what small holes they fill!

Stiffy is correct. You can pay the man now, or pay the man later.

A new head gasket is a lot cheaper than rebuilding the engine. Don't use anything that is suppose to seal a leak.............period.

(you've been warned)

I see you live in Michigan.

If you want your heater to keep working, do NOT use any additives in your cooling system!!

I've tried this garbage, and all it does is plug up your heater core. (Been there, done that)
I even tried to clean it out with a 3200PSI pressure washer, and it won't come out. :smackface

I went as far as cutting a heater core in half to see what it looked like, and it wasn't pretty!! :shake

Unless you want to replace the heater core, don't use it, and fix it the right way. :thumb

BTW, from what you described, it sounds like a head gasket. :x Very common in these cars. :(

So..... just thought bout it and realized, bout the time all this started, noticed a very faint light, hot electrical? smell. only inside the car, not out, even with my head down in the engine compartment. Any connection ya think to the water loss? Would the fan not turning on make water come out the overflow? don't know that it doesn't work, just never noticed it on..... not blonde... just motor slow :smackface
