My first Metro (Christine) had this radio delete plate. First thing I did was put a stereo in and took that stupid plate and "threw it away". ![]() I wish there was GeoMetroForum.com around when I did that

I finally got around to opening up the back yesterday to install the rear speakers. I had a feeling it wouldn't be pretty behind the trim panels. Needless to say, I ended up pulling out the seats and everything. ![]() I'm not in a position to do any welding at this point, so I sealed it up as well as possible for a quick fix; sprayed it all down with rust stop, layed in some aluminum flashing to cover the big holes and covered everything with some butyl peel-and-stick. I also slapped a few pieces on the exterior panels to see if it would deaden them a bit. Speakers mounted right into the factory holes, and the wires were right there, as expected. ![]() So that's that for now. Everything sounds good considering what I payed for all of it. A decent budget system. |

Your patch is not that bad for temporary. Heck, it will probably last longer than you think. Now either spray some undercoating, or brush some Herculiner, in that spot on the outer wheel well. Other side too. We're entering the sloppy, salty season. Nice work on the speaker install.

Exactly what I was thinking- gotta scrape out all of the loose stuff behind the tires and re-coat everything. |
