Hood scoop; Where to put it? How to connect?

So I bought a scoop at the PNP.
Should I put over the snorkel end and make an elbow box to mate on the underside of the hood

or, put it over the center with a foam gasket to a hole in the cleaner box

if in the center, then my heat riser is ineffective :hmm
I'd really like to keep the hot, thin air when at low cruise.
I'm going to cut off the front flat part, trim grind the sides for curve, and reduce the rear height to make it blend better at the rear - pretty easy with 24 grit. It's already a tad large for a Metro...

I'm too cheap to buy a turbo, and my corrugated snorkel was a bust, so this has to be it. I will not be denied cold high pressure air.

Cut a big enough hole in the hood and trim the edges neatly. Remove the top of your air cleaner and mount the scoop on it so it sticks up through the hole in the hood. Voila!! Instant shaker hood!!! :D :D :D

You can use something like a hood release or manual choke handle and cable to operate a flap in the scoop intake to get more or less air from your hot air riser.

Make your own manometer out of clear tubing. Make it on a gentle slope so it is very sensitive. Tape the end of the tubing to the hood where you want to find the pressure. Try different locations till you find the highest pressure location. Voila! I have done this on several race cars and while we were developing a new mini truck racing body. Works well. The best locations to check for pressure can be found by using wool tufts taped to the hood.

I just started one today!
Actually it's a hiking barometer I had - gluing a fitting for tubing now.
