I've owned my '93 Metro 1.0 for three years and don't know what model it is. :smackface

I've tried to figure it out (though with minimal effort). :banghead

It's time to humble myself and ask.

It looks like the blue one on the homepage.

Forgot His Manpurse

There's really three trims: XFI, Base, and LSI. XFI is a barebones car without any options. It just runs. The LSI generally has automatic *sometimes*, A/C, rear wipers, rear defroster, hatchback lever, etc. Do you have any of these features?

If it has MS in the VIN number it is an XFI. If not then if the entire bumper is body color it is LSI. If only the top part of the bumper is body color it is Base. As long as the bumpers haven't been changed or painted this is one of the easiest ways to tell.

You can see in my sig picture that the convertible is LSI and the hatch is Base.

Is the "bumper=body color" thing a pre-95 rule? My '95 has the black plastic bumpers and I know it's an LSi because I have the dealer window sticker (and the LSi sticker on the hatch).

Or does that mean that "All Metros w/body color bumpers are LSi, but not all LSi have body color bumpers"... :hmm

My '93 has MR in the VIN, black plastic bumpers (tops match body color), 5-speed manual, cruise control, radio, no other electrical accessories. It just runs great!

Based on post replies, my Metro is a base model.

Thanks, clarkdw

:dunno Just guessing here but unless you have owned the car since new then there is a possibility that someone else who owned it before you has changed the bumpers?

It is possible that the PO changed bumpers, but I can't imagine why they would. I am the second owner. There is no XFI or LSI designation on the car.

I think OM was referring to MechaGodzilla. I was only speaking to pre 95 Metros as the original post was asking about a 93.

My '91 has MR in the VIN, factory air, 5-speed, no cruise and the hatch says LSI. PO sold it as an LSI. The only evidence to support that is the hatch, and it's a different color than the body. (Also have black bumpers.) Guess I have a Base!!

more data for you is that the chassis is an sf413 type which describes the suzuki variant. that is sometimes more accurate when sourcing parts because the metro is a variant of the world class suzuki model. the metro shares a whole bunch of parts with the suzuki swift.
