I recently acquired a factory geo sunroof, all was well with it until it started raining. The sunroof seems to be leaking from the seal around the edge of the glass. I know it will probably be near to impossible to find a new seal, any ideas on how I might fix this leak? |

find a seal is all you can do if you want it to work. if you are ok with it not poping up to vent you can use some rtv silicone and seal it up i do not recomend it since it is a Geo factory sunroof and i will probably catch hell for even mentioning use of RTV. |

Can you post some pics? Like some close-up ones showing the sealing surfaces? There are a lot of universal door weatherstripping and might be one that works. Also, how is it leaking? Is it leaking between the glass and the seal, or is it leaking around the seal between the rubber and the steel of the roof? |

I will see if I can post some pics when I get off work here in about an hour. It is leaking between the seal and the glass. I put plenty of asphalt sealer between the roof and the metal frame of the sunroof so im good there. I was thinking maybe wipe some silicone on the seal and bend the hinges a little to make the glass press down a little harder on the seal. |

I have never seen one of these on a Metro- does it have hinges? EDIT- we were writing at the same time- I see from your post that it does. I had a sunroof on a Mustang II and the hinges loosened up a tiny amount which was just enough to let the water come streaming in. I've also seen a video (that I can't find now) where the hinges had to be bent back to their original shape (again, just a tiny amount)- the stress on them over many years had changed their shape and they no longer held the glass tightly against the seal. Not Really All That Smart

There seems to be no market for the factory sunroof that I have. If you need a seal, I probably have it. |

Never was any factory sunroof. What you have is an aftermarket sunroof which had a GEO logo put on it specifically for dealers to install. |
