So my little buttons right of the steering wheel for the wiper kept popping off when i hit the "off" button so I put some super glue on them and put them back on, now the buttons wont go in. i got the "INT" button in and it wont come out now.How can I safely disassemble and clean these? |

I think they're kaput! You need to pick up these.![]() http://geometroforum.com/topic/5286371/1/#new Then take the old one apart to see what can be salvaged. And make a "how to" of course.

IMHO, when I am securing these buttons, I use a hot glue gun on the button side, push button gently on the tab...this will secure it without damaging the switch... |

They still work. I know this from my "int" switch, I just need to know how i can get them off like the one in your pic :\ then I can remove some excess glue hopefully. |

No. Don't. Those switches have been molested. You can tell because the switch buttons don't line up the way their supposed to. Each button has a specific location. These are not so configured. This is an unmolested set. The tops of the buttons line up evenly. ![]() |

You are absolutely right. I saw that too. But they will still work. Very hard to find these that the buttons don't fly off. Or with the left buttons on the right side. All depends on what you can live with. Most of mine are glued on. I used super glue gel. That way the adhesive doesn't run down into the switch.

Removing these switches isn't that hard. Look for screws to remove, and keep removing them until you get the job done. Look closely, and don't force anything. You might have to drop the steering column to get the job done. It's been a while. I really can't remember. I just do it. |

PO used rubber cement on mine. It ran down the channels and you could push the button in but it wouldn't come back out. It's a journey of exploration. I had to drop the steering column, but it's only two nuts, no biggy. Those switches can be taken completely apart and cleaned - unless they were super-glued together. Good luck!! |

Super glue isn't very super when it gets warm...ever get fingers stuck together? run under hot water to unstick. Wouldn't use water....but I'm sure you could be creative

Actually, you can take the switch completely apart. I don't think putting it in a bowl of medium-warm water would hurt it at all as long as you then completely tore it down and dried it off properly. Then re-lube it when you put it back together. Need I mention that it should be disconnected and out of the car first? |

Disassembly of one of these switches is very difficult to do without permanently damaging something. Been there, done that. Getting the buttons off without breaking the 22 - 24 year old tangs is most likely never going to happen. |

That was the one hard part I had on the first one I did. Had much better results with the second, though. Still, not for the faint of heart ...
