You seem to be stuck on this "6000k" figure like it's something great and wonderful. That's just another way of saying "bright white", but marketing loves it because it sounds techy. A measure of power (how far your bright white lights shine) is either watts or candlepower. As long as you don't create an unsafe situation by blinding oncoming drivers or yourself when all that brightness reflects back at you in the fog, whatever makes you feel better works. Years ago in France, they required all headlights to be yellow because it cuts the glare and penetrates fog better. Of course, with the tungsten filament technology we had back in the '60s, they were halfway to yellow anyway even over here! Those lights were probably about 3500k or so. As better lighting tech evolved, the colors grew brighter and the light that could be generated by 55w increased. I've had 6000k lights on vehicles before, and I took them off because they didn't please me (irrefutable technical reason there!) I just bought a set of 4300k bulbs to replace my old dim H4666 sealed beams. I may yet go all the way to HID, but it'll be at 4300k if/when I do, because that is closer to natural light. Ain't saying ya can't do what you want with your car and lights. Just like you're trying to see the road better, we're trying to help you see lighting better. Keep things safe and have a ball!! |
