Window Regulator

So I have a 1993 4 door hatchback. The driver side window regulator finally got to the point that it needs to be replaced. After taking it apart it is horribly bent due to the previous owner forcing screws through it. Not to mention the plastic rollers were really gnawed up. Unable to find a decent replacement I began to research what would fit as a suitable replacement. After scouring the internet and reading various topics I decided to take a chance and order a window regulator from a suzuki swift, naturally one that will fit a 4 door swift. Due to the fact that 2 door and 4 door geo metro window regulators are different part numbers and dont fit the same. I was able to find one on ebay at this link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/310705071952?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Which I bought and it is in transit to me now. I dont anticipate getting it until the weekend due to the holiday. But I figured if I was going to spend $20 plus for a used one that I would rather spend a little more and be the test dummy for the forum. I know allot of folks here are wanting/needing new window regulators. There is a listing on ebay as well for an OEM one..but for $175 I passed. Hopefully this fits my car and I can report back good news. If not then Im out $45 :die

Sometimes the rubber guides can get stuck and ride up with the window, jamming the whole works. Then the regulator is forced and it gets bent. Greasing the rubber guides can help a lot, and there are many other people with ideas here.

Mine also jammed/collapsed because the front steel rail guide started warping when the full weight of the glass was applied, twisting backward and dislodging the glass. I think one of the welds broke loose. I used some rigid styrofoam to hold the steel in place and it's been ok so far.

Yeah I need to grease my rubber pieces for sure. My whole regulator was shot though. Hopefully this fits once it arrives.

I wouldn't put grease on the rubbers or the dirt will stick to it making matters worse. Just use some kind of dry lube.

I use spray silicone on the rubber channels. Works fine.

Since the Swift is the same car with a different badge it should fit with no issues.

I am very interested in this topic. Could you do a "how to" write up complete with how to take the interior door panel off and put it back on. I've done this in the junk yard, but its never turned out pretty. The one time I grabbed a regulator from a junk car, I had to heat the screws to get then to turn with out stripping the head.
I would love a step by step guide on how to do this.

Sure. I already have my door panel off but I'll go back and do a write up. Should have the new regulator delivered today
