Good things come to those who actively wait. :D :D
Or, actively apply everywhere, panic and almost sell their Jeep off.
Well, yeah, that too!!

So, I've been knocking out training with Homeboy Depot. Work there PT as a night freight associate. Max of 29 hrs a week @ $8.xx/hr. But, it's a job and bringing in $8/hr more than I was making. Interview with Citi Cards went great, and I start 5 weeks of training with them on Monday. Signed their acceptance letter for $12.30/hr, for a FT Collector 2 position. That's right boys and girls. Pay your Home Depot bills or I may just be calling you in the future.

Interview for AZ Dept of Trans today @ 3:30. Hoping to land their Equipment Part Supervisor gig as it will net $47 - $52k/year, double what I'll be making for Citi. 2014's definitely looking better than 2013 did.
For most people collection positions get old pretty fast. Maybe even more because of the metrics you have to hit than the customers that are angry at you because they didn't pay their bills. Do they do any other activities there? Fraud stuff can be much more satisfying.

Home Depot Selfie! :rofl Congrats man! You look good in orange. :thumb How is the job so far? Seem like something you can progress in and make a sizeable career out of it? Or just something to get you by and pay the bills?

Regardless, very glad to see you making such efforts to get into the work force. A trait many people do not have.

Hung up the apron in April, in favor of working the convenience store located just 2 miles from my house. Homeboy Depot had me traveling 38 miles each way, and working 10pm to 2am, in addition to my day job at Citi, as a collector for delinquent home depot accounts (what are the odds) and getting very little sleep. I hate my day job. Not because I get occasionally yelled at over the phone... I'm past that and laugh when the idiots yell and hang up (which does nothing to help their situation at all). I hate how things are run. I'm all about helping people. But, the company is pushing for shorter than possible call times and cares only about the dollar. I have been steadily applying for other jobs, hoping to get back to one that pays as much or more than the two, and give me a life back.

Fast forward to Sept 2014...

For the past month and a half, I have been trying to get back to the job I had last October... maintenance supervisor at a bus repair shop. I left that job because I couldn't work for the manager running the place at the time. Impossible to work for. Actually, he let me go after the trial period. Anyways, he was let go back in January, and now that he's gone the place runs the way it should, and the staff treated like they should be. I emailed the president of the company out in Riverside, letting him know that I wanted to return and be given my fair chance to prove myself. To my surprise, he contacted the current local manager about me returning. But, the shop here in Tucson is staffed at 16 personnel, and they don't want to go higher than that.

I thanked them for wanting to bring me back, and let them know that I could now pursue the job offer to work as a mechanic for a contractor company in Afghanistan for a year. To my surprise the very next day, I have a job scout from the company (Complete Coach Works) calling me on behalf of the president to offer me a 5-6 month gig for them up in New York inspecting and prepping new buses for shipment across the states. $20/hr 6-10's, place to stay (with a roommate), 3 meals a day plus $20/day per diem for incidentals. The wife is more keen to the idea of me being away from home for half the time and no hostile fire to worry about. The only concern is will I have employment after that 5-6 months is up. It a gamble I have to take. My hope is that somehow an opening comes up here in Tucson to move into once I come back.

Application and proof of being legal to work submitted. Pre-hire physical and drug screening done today. Hope to be headed to Plattsburg, NY within a week or two. Winter is gonna suck.

:popcorn Yeah, call centers this day and age suck and its not because of the person on the other end of the phone. I lasted less than 6 weeks and went to a admin assistance paper pusher job reading spread sheets daily. 10 to 2 at HD? Take it they dont like you that much? Did you mention you are a vet every chance you got?

I helped a former coworker who served get his military ID. Although he can be an ass now about shoving it in your face, its helped him with some discounts and favoritism.

Not gonna drive up. They'll fly me, and even fly us back every few weeks to be with family from what I hear. Any members on here in up-state NY?

Hmm... 20 minutes from the Canadian border.... hood scope and mid-wing!
