By "chat from the other side" I hope you mean the other side of the world! Last time a buddy of mine went to the other side I never heard from him again :lol

Yeah, other side of the rock we live on. Arrived safely yesterday. Not a whole lot of changes since I was here last. Still being mis-run by the Army.

So do we get some desert selfies from a different desert than your normal?
Or, are you not allowed? (OPSEC and all that...)

Thought I would post up a pic of my new work center for the next year. I'm the shop lead for the Refueling Maintenance Shop. We maintain all of the aircraft fuel trucks. Taking a section of the shop at a time and going through and cleaning and such. It's actually been quiet so far. We have automatic guns that take out anything incoming, so that makes me and the fam feel better. Some stuff has changed a lot since 2010, other things haven't really changed at all.

From what I've read and heard our glorious leader is drawing down the military forces in the mid east. I do hope you are taking an active interest in your safety. If you get a chance, learn how to use every type of military fighting armament within your AO. Might come in handy if the injuns hop the fence and you are close to a gun. Just sayin'.

Yeah, the only thing I don't like about being over here this time around, is not being armed. I can't confirm or deny your statement dayle, but it may be accurate to a degree. Selfies to come Melanie I'm sure. Gotta for on my Chris Kyle (beard) a bit more first. Mine will be more grey though, lol. Stubby, as long as I don't show defenses or any secret squirrel stuff it's ok. A maintenance shop is fine.

That ping pong table repurposed into a maintenance surface seemed pretty high tech. Don't want the bad guys knowing we can do that sort of thing. You're as bad as Edward Snowden Gary.

Month number four is almost in the books. I really should have done this contract gig when I retired back in 2013. So far I have two credit cards paid off so far, and now attacking number three. That is a really great feeling let me tell you. I won't fall into that trap again (I hope). The wife and I have already decided that I will do a second year over here, if the contract renewal allows. Sucks being apart, but getting finacially in a better spot, it's worth it in the long run.

For those who aren't on my Facebook, I have also been sporting a new look while over here. First time really growing out a full beard, ever. I couldn't grow one back in 1989 when I joined the Air Force. And that kept me from being able to grow one for 24 years. While halfway around the globe and away from the wife, I'm sporting one.

Missing my little green machine too.

That is FANTASTIC about the credit cards, Gary. Good job. We are all so happy for you!

Now, RE: the beard, every time I see those pics, I am cracking UP.
Why??
Because I have another friend with a beard, and he makes that SAME EXACT FACE, all the time, in photos.
