Hello All -
I am having a problem with the alarm in my 1996 Geo Metro 1 liter hatchback. When I remove the key from the ignition the alarm has been taking longer before it won't go off before I open the driver's side door. Usually, if it is working properly you can hear a click behind the dashboard. Lately, it takes longer and longer for that click to happen and this morning the relay or whatever it is isn't working at all so the alarm goes off whenever I open the door. Is there a away to disconnect this alarm? It is not an after market alarm but whatever came with the car. Thanks.

My alarm doesn't go off at all. I disconnected the switch on the door that lets the car know the door is open or closed. I'll connect it again when I get the interior reinstalled, but for now, no buzzer. HOWEVER, I did mess up once and kill my battery by not turning off my headlights (no headlight buzzer either).

my buzzer sounded like it was going to croak so instead of it whimpering at me i went ahead and un pluged it from under the dash... on the 94 models their are 2 buzzers one for headlamps and door the other for the key when you roll it to the on position... mine still chimes when you turn the car on but dose not door chime.

location... under the dash passenger side close to the center console... if the 95+ are the same as the 94 5hat is.

my 91 vert must have a really worn ignition. Turn the key off and the buzzer sounds, remove the key and the buzzer quits------SOMETIMES !!! Sometimes it keeps buzzing, then you have to reinstall the key and jiggle it around then remove it again. Then USUALLY the buzzing stops.

Hello All -
Thank you for the replies. I found the little switch that activates the car door alarm and will consider changing it to keep the alarm from malfunctioning. Today the relay seems to be working OK. It clicks within a couple seconds of me removing the ignition key. I wanted to add that this 1996 Geo Metro is the most dependable car I have ever had. I've driven it regularly since 2000 including three transcontinental trips and it has never failed me. An amazing little car. I hope that you all have similar luck with yours.
