I finally found a place that sells shift shaft seals....I think. It has not arrived yet (I just bought one) and I will post if it arrives and is correct, along with the seller's information.

Thank you David. The Texas location https://www.oemsuzukiparts.com/memberservices/index.cfm?action=login&siteid=214330&redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eoemsuzukiparts%2Ecom%2Fshoppingcart%2Findex%2Ecfm%3Faction%3DviewFinalCart%26siteid%3D214330 did not have the boot part and then emailed me and said that they don't have the shift shaft seal either. I tried them because they are here in Texas. So, I am starting my search all over again. SEE POST BELOW....SUCCESS! Edited by georandy, Dec 19 2013, 07:45 PM.

UPDATE: I just received both (new) the shift shaft seal and the little boot. Yea! I waited until I had them both in my hands before posting where I found them. Here is the supplier that has them: http://suzukicarparts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214820 Yes, it is the link/location that David posted above. Thank you again David. Plan A - is not to pull transmission. If I mess it up or can't figure it out... on to Plan B - pull transmission. |

Good luck, I am sure it can be done in the car but it will not be easy. |

Well after getting the bolt loose, I never could get the shaft to line up to get the bolt threaded back on. Trying to line them up was like trying to fetch minnows swimming in corn oil. I guess I could waited a couple of weeks for the transmission fluid to all drip out and clean in there with carb cleaner in order to manipulate the parts without them being so slippery, but with Geogonfa's help it took less time to drop the transmission. His recommendation that we should look at the clutch was spot on. It was fried (although it seemed to be working like new). He showed me how to drop the transmission and install a new clutch. We did, of course, replace the shift shaft seal. I still think a shift shaft seal and boot can be replaced without dropping the transmission or a mod be made at the shift shaft to make it really easy. Next time. |
