Unlocking Door From Outside; hard to get it unlocked

Hello again guys, i posted a couple of weeks ago for my cigarette lighter assembly and i got that fixed with help from some really nice forum members and i figured i would see if i could get some advice on what i can do about my door.
I had other issues with this same door a year or two ago and i had gotten it fixed finally now i'm having this new issue. so, everything seems to be put in the right place and everything works expect for the lock cylinder(driver side door). the door locks and unlocks just fine from the inside but when the door is closed and locked up i have the hardest time(most of the time) trying to unlock it with the key from the outside. the key goes in no problem and it did work fine when i first got it. In the summer its not a big deal cause i can leave the window down far enough to where i can put my arm in and unlock it from the inside but that isn't always an option when i know i will be a while or if i'm in a questionable area. Now in the winter time this sucks especially when its raining cause i can't leave the window down. this means i have to go around to the passenger side and unlock the driver side from the inside or slide my big butt over emergency break and stick shift, well now being pregnant that is not an option for me.
so i get the key in and it does get stuck most of the time(when i spray it down with wd40 it loosens up and that goes away for the most part) but even when i do turn the key all the way to the right, which would be to unlock, nothing happens. i can even see that when i turn the key the inside lock doesn't even move, unless i turn the key multiple times and turn it as hard and as fast as i can. when i try to lock the door from the outside it doesn't give me any problems. i turn the key to the left and it easily locks the car and the inside lock moves to the locked position no problem. sometimes turning the key many times hard and fast unlocks it and this is when i see the inside door lock move all the way to the unlocked position. i can usually see the inside lock move a little when i turn the key hard but it rarely goes all the way.
I tried looking around after i took off the panels and i just couldnt see that anything was wrong, until i watched how the whole locking mechanisms moved as i locked and unlocked and moved the handles. when moving the inside lock everything moves normally and it unlocks just fine but when i move it from the outside i can see that when i turn the key to the right to unlock the mechanism moves but it's like its not pushing down far enough. i compared it to the passenger side and i dont see any difference between the two. the only difference is that when i, on the driver side, push down on that tab thing with the yellow plastic piece on it that is attacthed to the lock cylinder it unlocks the door and it also moves the inside lock all the way to the unlocked position but on the passenger side mechanism doesn't go down any further and the door unlocks on its own. maybe the pictures will help give a visual.

If you remove the lock rod from the yellow tab, you can actuate the lock rod by hand and see if it is easy and you can actuate the key to see if it is easy. This may isolate your problem, and you may narrow it down to the lock cylinder or the latch mechanism.

WD-40 in a LOCK? Ding!

Any sort of grease or oil will make locks get gooey and stiff and quit working.... Add Cold Weather and you got a 100% A1 situation for No-Unlockey....

So.. I would take it to a locksmith and have him clean it out real good.. Then - re-lube with DRY lock graphite.... Bet this makes the problem go away....

If you are a real handy sort.. Pull the lock out of the door.. Pull the tumbler assembly out (DON'T loose the little detent or spring).... Hose it down with Brake Cleaner spray till 100.0000% of all the icky crud you sprayed in there is out and ALL the little brass thingeys are free.... Lube with DRY lock graphite... Reassemble. Test it with your key when it's out of the car....

I had to do this to my locks because some well meaning soul filled them up with STICKY GOO.... and they wouldn't work anymore....

Thanks

The description of the problem seems to imply the key turns but the lock arm doesn't which would be a different issue that gummed up. Almost sounds like a tab broke off or something that is preventing the key from turning the arm.

get some carburetor cleaner. use the little tube that comes with it. stick the tube into the keyhole. spray the hell out of the mechanism. wait for a couple of hours for the carb cleaner to dry. get some graphite in liquid form. stick it up against the key hole. spray the hell out of it.

got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
