Any advice pulling tranny tomorrow. Any dos or don'ts
support the engine in place. jack underneath or
2x4 fender to fender with rope or chain holding engine in place. or run the 2x4 from the windshield wiper cowl to the radiator support.

TAKE SEVERAL PICS BEFORE AND DURING DISASSEMBLY. otherwise you will forget something going back together.

DON'T PICK THE TRANNY UP BY THE CLUTCH ARM

I like picking them by the clutch arm. So I fixed the problem, with the to bearing coming off.

When I pulled my transmission, I used some 2x4's, a J-hook, and some threaded rod to support the engine...

then I screwed a pipe nipple into the trans. drain hole...

and attached a corresponding floor flange to my little trolley jack...

Presto, an adjustable height, rolling transmission stand. :D

Coupled with the adjustable engine support, it became pretty trivial to pull and install transmissions. Like my Dad used to say. "The setup is the most important part of the job."---- :thumb

Dude, that is toooo slick. I don't impress easily on this type of thing and, wow, just wow. I even noticed the hood prop has a holder so the hood is higher and doesn't have to be removed. Exceedingly well thought out. How many iterations to get to this point? Are there things you would change now?

The "setup" in this case is stellar. I love the trans lift idea. :thumb

One iteration. I can kind of "see" the whole process ahead of time and visualize and plan for the stumbling blocks. Kinda' freaky, huh? No talent involved; it's just that I've lived long enough to make just about every mistake possible...! :rofl

I would change two things: the cross piece could be a bit stronger as you can see by the slight sag, and I would get a REAL clutch alignment tool instead of this one.

Honestly the engine support part wasn't what impressed me. I love the hood support and the trans thing is a stroke of genius. B-)
