Does anyone know if there is an afterkarmet steering hub for a 91 metro so I can put one of those quick releases on a cool steering wheel in my car like all the race cars have? Lol

Might want to only adjust the seat when you're stopped, too!

Gives me a bad idea, though! I have a racing QR wheel setup in my office. I think I could figure out how to mount that to my non-air bag steering column with a bit of that hot melt steel glue ... :D :D :D (As if I don't enough to do on it! The whole back of my car is full of new parts waiting their chance to get off the bench and into the game!!)

There's a whole host of less expensive 'non-racecar' options within the sandbuggy community. Racecar steering wheel quick disconnects typically need to be SFI approved, where the sandbuggy industry is unregulated.

The downside might be (depending on your experience level) that they all require welding and fab skills;

Here's the QR wheel assembly I have.

This is it on the steering column. To release, you reach through the wheel and grab the flange, then pull it towards you. It releases the wheel and your natural motion continues and pulls the wheel off.

This is what the end of the steering column looks like. The hex fitting is welded on and the wheel just fits over it and clicks into place.

This steering wheel assembly is from a Formula SAE race car our students built years ago. You would have to figure out how to bolt your wheel onto the release side, or scrap the stock wheel and go custom. Since we don't have power steering, I think you might want a larger wheel than this 450 lb car used. Your horn won't work anymore through the wheel button, so you'd have to find a way to work it. I don't know if you could salvage the turn signal cancelling function, but the steering column lock should still work just fine.
