I could not find a 'how to'. Put the cable thru the firewall from the engine compartment first. Then hook up to the clutch pedal, then to the tranny. Easier if you take out the drivers seat first. Its a long way up to the clutch pedal hookup. Read these threads first: https://www.google.com/search?q=geometroforum+clutch+cable+replace+site:geometroforum.com&biw=1016&bih=590 |

I just did this (1997 3/5), so in the interest of posterity... Tools needed: 10mm wrench or socket/ratchet/6" extension, 14mm wrench, pliers Time required: About 10-20 minutes 1. Remove the 14mm adjustment nut and cylindrical spacer from the transmission end of the clutch cable (pliers to hold the cable and a 14mm wrench for the nut may be necessary if the nut is rusty). 2. Pull the clutch cable through the clutch release arm. 3. Remove the clutch cable from the transmission by pulling the large rubber grommet on the cable from it's bracket on top of the trans. 4. Remove the two 10mm clutch cable mounting bolts from the firewall. 5. Unhook the clutch cable stirrup from the clutch pedal by pulling it over the top of the clutch pedal arm under the dash. 6. Remove clutch cable from vehicle by pulling it through the firewall. Assembly is reverse of removal. Adjust cable so there is about 5-7mm of free play in the clutch release arm. Earlier models may be slightly different. |
