Hi, I have a 98 Chevy Metro Base. The two trim strips that run along the roof and windshield are loosing their coating along with the two strips that run along the door at the window. What do you fellows do with this problem? I've been thinking about striping off the black whatever it was and painting what is left. Anyone have a source for new trim strips or idea on how to revitalize these trim pieces?

Thanks,

Chuck

For the ones on the doors I just take a razor knife & carefullly trim the rubber off, then paint it black.

What about the ones that run the full length of the cab along the roof and rear window? I have one that's broken near the window thanks to some unscrupulous ice scraping last season.

Carefully remove then hit them with epoxy paint stripper. Re paint with ta-da,,epoxy paint.
Way better than the craptastic coating originally used on them.

I think T3ragtop used spray on bed-liner to redo his trim on the top of the door . I think it would probably look just as good on that strip. I will probably have to redo mine pretty soon on my Mk5

I am planning on using reflective tape to cover some of these faded plasticas. Black reflective tape dang near looks like the original finish, has an 8 year warranty and it gives you some very cool effects at night. Plus it is a bit safer in the dark.

Below is the UltraVan at night with its trim aglow

Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

i used rustoleum truck bed liner spray to spruce up the trim on my red vert.

i used it on the crusty looking door window trim on my beater gt and it looks good for very little prep and a quick and dirty spritz from a rattle can.
