I'm working on repairing the front driver's side frame horns and need to remove the lower control arm to get access to weld some spots on the horn.

The rear bracket and the front nut have come off easily, but there doesn't seem to be enough clearance from the transmission to pull the front bushing off.

The shop manual says "loosen nut and remove arm." I assume the instructions were written for a 1.0L with a manual transmission. At this point I'm envious.

The only solutions seem to be removing the front mount from the horn, which I would like to avoid at this stage in the repairs or pull the transmission.

What are the rest of you with automatics doing when you replace your lower control arms? Any cool tricks?

Problem solved.

Removed rear transmission mount and jacked at that point to move the transmission up about 1/2".

It's still tight, but I got the control arm off.

Hope this helps someone else.

Later.
