Hi all: Putting in a new clutch. 195K on original, began slipping, thought it was my imagination. So went all the way up from LA to San Fran and back, and it made it, what a car I tell you. When I came back it was slipping bad, no doubt. Took it out. Clutch plate was wore down to rivets, and pressure plate was scored by rivets, but it still made it back. My mileage dropped tho by a 100 miles per tank, a small price to pay instead of being stranded. Anyways, putting in a new Sachs pressure plate, clutch disc, throw out, pilot bearing, flywheel resurface, rear main oil seal (would highly recommend if putting in new rear main seal when replacing clutch. Mine was wore out, only saw that when I pulled it, there was some oil in the bell housing) While at it I would like to replace the release shaft return spring, but cannot seem to locate or find one, either from a parts store or on line. Did not come with clutch kit. Any ideas or help on this one? Thanks 4Bore Edited by 4BORE, Jan 10 2014, 05:24 PM.

why would you want to replace the spring? is it damaged, or is it ocd. I like to replace all bolts with stainless bolts, (ocd). if you need a spring cause yours is damaged PM me I have used springs around, but good luck finding a new one. |

Actually, I wish I was OCD. I'm quite the opposite, if it ain't broke, I don't fix, but this has also caused problems in the past. So while it out, I figure I will replace all I can. I even want to replace the input shaft oil seal of the trans-axle, it is dry and seems okay but it done 195K. However, that is quite a job and I think the thing has to be split to get to it, so I may pass on it, but I hope I wish I didn't. Thanks tho. |
