It would appear my next little project on my basket case 97 lsi auto project is going to be the transmission drivers side drive axle seal. I looked at the factory service manual and it doesn't give any help other than it sshould only take about .5 hours to complete. Currently I'm thinking I'll just break the knuckle loose at the ball joint and pry the axle out of the trans and replace the seal without removing the axle from the wheel bearing/knuckle. I'm I am thinking right or is there a trick to it that I should know about.

Thanks Red

Pop the lower ball joint after removing the axle nut.
Push the axle in while swinging spindle out.
Remove axle with a pry bar.
Replace seal and re-assemble.

That or at least be ready to catch the fluid that will come out. Be sure to top it up after.
