I hope I'm in the right category but I didn't see one for misc stuff so here I am. My Nephews tried to change the wiper blades on his 1992 Metro 2 door hatchback and he didn't remove one of them right and he broke off the tab on the rear of the wiper blade holder that swivels on the main arm. My question is: does he have to buy the main wiper arm that bolts to the cowling? I don't see a way to just remove the part that is attached to the main am that the blade clips onto. It has to be expensive to by the complete main arm assembly and there are no junk yards near here so I'm hoping there is a fix for the broken off tab. I was able to put the old wiper back on and it stays ok because it looks to me like the tab is not really necessary. Thanks Guys Patrick Skagit County, Wa. |

not 100% sure but it sounds like the part he broke is just part of the wiper blade assembly that comes with any wiper blade (not just the wiper refills)which aren't that much at auto stores-try pulling the arm up, putting your thumb and forefinger in the center plastic and pull down-it should leave a curved hook-like metal end-I don't see how anybody could break that- |

If I read it right the answer is no. Buy a replacement wiper blade assembly. zCheck out the instructions out very carefully and follow them. Everything should be OK. |

The wipers have little plastic pieces that usually snap together. It should remove from the arm and you should get what you need with a new wiper blade assembly. There should be a flat blade on the underneath of it, if you pull up the flat blade while pulling down on the piece it should remove from the arm. If you have trouble removing it, the people at autozone are probably pretty good at putting them on, ask one of them to take a look at it for you.
