Boy oh boy.. The Geo was down for some time getting all of it's fluids done. While I was changing the rear wheel bearing my friend failed to mention that he drained the ATF.. long story short I went to drive the car, went fine in reverse and then had a HUGE lack of acceleration (of course). I quickly turned the car around and went back into the garage to call him. That's when I found out I had absolutely no ATF, I went a total of about 200-300 feet.. I'm going to add fluid tomorrow as well as a filter but do you think it's toast already, or is there still a possibility I may have a tranny? Any input is appreciated.

I used to work for a company that had a fleet of custom built trucks with automatic transmissions. These trucks had cut transmission lines that went to the transmission coolers and were steel lines that were spliced and had a rubber hose between the two steel lines. Every now and then the clamps would come loose and the hose would come off. The transmission would pump all the fluid out in short order on the ground. We always replaced the hose and filled it back up with fluid and drove on. They were pretty tough automatic transmissions. Since you did not go far, you should be fine. Fill it up and try it.
