Hello fellow metro enthusiasts! Just bought a 93 geo metro convertable LSI 3 Cylinder, 5 speed. 94k miles. I believe (hope) that my transmission mounts are in need of replacing. The transmission itself feels great goes through the gears nicely, But thee "shifter" itself Moves and shakes about a lot. for example if your in a gear and you dont have your foot on the gas, then you accel a a bit you can see the shifter move as a result. First thing that came to mind were the motor mounts or the transmission mounts. Just wanted a second opinion, And was curious if this was a common problem. Sorry kinda of a rubbish explanation, but i hope its understandable. Cheers in advance metro enthusiasts! :] |

Put the car up on ramps or jackstands, crawl under the car and take a look. I'm thinking normal. Normal = bushings worn out on the shifting linkage, or nothing wrong at all. |

Welcome to the forum. Yeah look at all the mounts. Check the bushings for the shifter too. Lets us know what you find. What part of Cal are you in? |

Cheers mates good to be a part of the forums finally. Wish i posted a build thread of my last geo rebuild LOL. Following up. You guys are gonna love this.. Drove the car up on ramps, took a look under and i found this [IMG] [/IMG]That bolt there in the picture was non-existent. So it was just loose the WHOLE time. The first bolt i found laying around the garage was the one. And dont worry i put a washer in between after i took the picture. But i had a good laugh. Put that bolt on and it felt amazing. Took a look at the boot, and shifter bushings and everything was in very good condition. Shifting is very smooth. NO more vibrations. Very happy it didn't cost me a cent. And i live in Santa Cruz California. This is my second Geo of hopefully many. |
