Any one running eBay ram air intake kit for 30$? How does it perform compared to stock?

Do you have a link?

Regardless, it is likely just a Warm Air Intake (WAI). A "no-name" cone filter which is attached to the air cleaner. Looks nice.

IN SHORT, if you remove the snorkel from the passenger side of the engine bay to the air cleaner you will get less restricted air flow. A little louder. You still have the factory air filter in the cleaner.

The factory air cleaner is a little restrictive but probably better for keeping micron size particles out of the engine. It can be washed.
A properly oiled K&N air filter is going to allow a little more air in and slightly larger micron size particles into the engine. Wash it regularly and oil it sparingly/instructions.

The $30 eBay kit is going to pull air from the engine bay which will be slightly warmer than the ambient temperature outside. WAI is better for fuel economy. Cold, denser air is better for producing "power" granted you add a little more fuel. The ECM should compensate either way for proper air/fuel ratio.

I would not use an aftermarket air filter that was not a 'brand name' that is nationally recognized or I would simply remove the air cleaner snorkel and keep the stock 'OEM' paper filter in the air cleaner. Not as cool looking however. :dunno

If you want COOL, take a look at the link best engine pictures and what others have done.

Personally, I use a K&N and draw/ram air from the front bumper. My engine likes it. I also have a 3Tech street/race cam. :D

thanks for the info, i ended up using factory hardware removing paper filter and installing 4" spectra filter. I can tell a difference in throttle responce, though alittle louder like you said. If i could figure out how to post a pic i would lol.

Wheels look great. Need stainless steel trim rings on them for class. See my project thread for a look at mine. I use the same air filter as you on my 4 cylinder. Also shown in my project thread.

I'd take that cone filter off, leave the snorkel off, and just reinstall the factory filer. Same loud noise as before, but better looking, and filters better.
