I need to know how realistic is would be to do a rebuild on my transmission. I know the syncros are going out. It is very hard to shift from 3rd down to 2nd and sometimes from 5th down to 4th.
Anyone know how much a shop might charge for the work?

If you have a press it is pretty easy, takes me less than 3 hours. Kits are available on ebay.

complete bearing/syncro/seal kit with NO china parts from Cobra Transmission was $90. :rocker

and I have to add, that there was a mix up in my kit. Cobra corrected it immediately, shipping replacement w/o any charge or hassle. GREAT customer care!

Besides the syncros, what is there in the kit that can't be purchased at an industrial supply house? :type
