After some discussion on another thread regarding the Mitsubishi Mirage, Chevy Spark, and Ford Fiesta, I decided to test drive a Ford Fiesta 3 cylinder 1.0 liter with Ecoboost today at a local dealership (Ricart Ford, one of the largest in the country). I had already talked with the sales rep yesterday and they were waiting on me with the car. The car boasts 32 city, 45 highway, 37 combined and was a 5 speed manual transmission. The test drive went great! I zipped through the parking lot with no skips or misses in the tranny or performance. Turned onto the highway and got it to 80mph in the blink of an eye (estimates are 0-60mph in 9.8 seconds). I then turned onto an exit through some country streets and really hit the curves and turns with speed. The sales guy didn't even blink an eye....he liked how I was pushing it, and it handled great. We popped the hood and I was surprised at the tapping sound.....at idle it's louder than a Geo Metro (in my opinion) and sounded like it had alot of lifter tapping going on. But the engine compartment is well insulated as to where the noise doesn't make its way to the cabin. Could have been new engine tap going on....who knows. The interior was quiet and comfortable. Really the only knocks against it were 1) price and 2) too many damn buttons on the dash! I was really hoping they would offer this model in a stripped down version.....I don't need heated seats, ambient lighting, or even air conditioning for that matter!! But alas, at least at this particular location, $18,000 was about as cheap as they would go.....and I offered to pay CASH!! I was really hoping for something around $14,000. **I also didn't like how the sales guy told me I could get the car cheaper if I financed......what a bunch of bull!! I don't believe in financing cars.....it's cash at your cheapest price, or I walk. It was a nice little ride though....... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Awesome. I owned a Mazda 2 (same platform as the Fiesta) and absolutely loved it. Super fun to drive (even more so than the Fiesta) and got around 40 mpg. I nearly got a Fiesta before I got the Mazda. If I were guessing, I'd say the clicking was the direct injection. Could be wrong though. |

If you can get your best price by financing it why not finance......get it for 36 months and pay it off in a year assuming interest is low and there are no pre payment penalties?? |

That dash cluster looks like a pair of eyes giving an evil glare. Don't know if I could drive a car that seems po'd at me all the time. |

Nice, 5 speed is the way to go with the fiesta! Don't believe me about the automatic being complete garbage? Have fun looking at this LONG LIST of failures http://www.fordfiestaforum.com/forum/48-transmission/ |

Because it's not their best price! They might drop the sticker, but they'll hit you with the finance charge, carrying fees, processing fees, etc. They also OWN the financing company, sooooooooo........ Sure, I guess I could finance it, then make one large payment and pay it off. But I believe there are still some prepayment penalties. |

Nice. Sounds real good til you get to the price. Too bad you can't have the performance and handling of the fiesta and the price of the mirage. Sticker price on the mirage 5 speed is 12999 and there not selling that great here so I think there's some more savings there. |

http://www.koonsbaltimoreford.com/new/Ford/2014-Ford-Fiesta-9bbb79280a0a00021627bf30a94c8b63.htm Koons Ford in Baltimore MD Sales guy has been trying to get me to come see this one. $14,358 3 cyl eco turbo engine. If it was just up the street I'd have driven it already. Maybe you could use their ad to squeeze a better deal locally. |

Something the salesman told me about the turbo.....for it to kick in the car needs to build up it's "boost." I don't understand the technicalities involved with turbo engines, but I can seriously say when I gave it the gas, the cars MOVED!! |
