Hey guys need an answer on this quick.... I'm replacing alternator cause it's overcharging and I bought the correct alt for my 97 3/5 and the connector on the back is a 3-prong but the previous owner put what looks like a galant alt on there and modified the wiring to where it's just 2 wires with connectors, one red and black (I assume positive/neg.),,, anyway, can I just plug those 2 wires in the 3 prong and leave one off? Btw, everything else looks like it will fit except the pulley is smaller on the new one... Any help is great thanks guys

Just another wrench.

There is an adaptation of the CS130 105 amp alternator some suzuki Variants (G10, G13 and the 1.6).
If this is the case you will have a different bottom bracket as well as a wire harness Adapter from your original Alt. three wire plug to two wire plug on the CS 130.

Look to see if you have the wire harness/ connector Adapter in line (between the present alternator wires to a three wire plug. If yes then you have the coveted conversion/ common molestation done to our cars.

If you go back to a stock alternator you will need a stock bottom bracket. The top bracket should be the same!

Pictures would be helpful.

Good Luck.

Look up the number on the original Alternator. This may be a CS 130 conversion.

check the clip connector on the end of the charge cable from the alternator where it clips into the fuse and relay block behind the battery and bolted to the left strut tower under the hood.

those connections tend to grow green crud which makes them increase in resistance. that resistance dissipates power as heat and i've seen situations where they got so cruddy that the heat literally burned up the buss bars in the relay rack.

Check all the wires hooked up to the Alternator, All grounds, Battery cables for continuity. Good luck.
