I am new to this forum, I am glad of the existance of this forum. A lot of helpful info. Iwas seeking information about these but couldn't find it. I have a Geo Metro with Code p420, as I read in this forum it needs a new catalytic converter. But because is a California Metro, I believe it has 2. One, just below the manifold and the second below the car. Which one should I replace??? Thanks for any help!! Smog Check Due next week

Probably the first one, the one built into the exhaust manifold. Depends upon where exactly your second O2 sensor is mounted. I thought I had a parts book page for California exhaust, but now I cant find it. If the rear O2 sensor plugs into the exhaust between the two cats, then it's definitely the front one that is bad. If the rear O2 sensor is behind the second cat, then it's measuring the effect of both and you might be able to get away with just replacing the rear one, much less expensive. |
