Hi everyone, my name is Ray and I am a brand new Geo owner. I am new to this forum, so I do not exactly where to put my post. My geo was working fine a few days ago and today it will not turn at all. The battery is brand new and when I did some searching, I found these 2 red wires loose (below fuel injector resistor), which I assume is the problem.I spent a few hours online trying to identify where they are suppose to connect but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. http://i58.tinypic.com/140x55j.jpg |

recheck your batter cables.....check that your battery is charged. check the main fuse (yellow) im assuming it doesnt crank over at all?.....or does it crank but not start? (different demons) is there no power to anything in the car? or just a dead starting circuit? |

Thank you very much for the prompt reply. There is no power or anything. Doesn't crank, no sounds to when I turn the key, no lights on the dashboard. |

Just my$.02...I would check the main yellow fuse in the power distribution center ( located left front inner fender ) and use a test light to make sure you have power going to it...

All those wires going through behind the clutch cable someone added. Two red, two white and a green? Make sure of the connection under that red cover on the positive battery post. There should be a big #4 cable going to the starter and a smaller #10 wire going to the main fuse in the fuse box next to the battery. |

as you look around, keep in mind, that if your main fuse is blown, it may well have been one of those added wires that is shorting out. either remove them, or tape up good, to prevent shorts in the future. look for loose connections where those wires terminate. I would be suspect of the penetration at the firewall, as there does not appear to be a grommet to protect the insulation. |

![]() Also
![]() Wow, behind the clutch cable. That's a new one for me. Not going to see ANY moment there. Check your main fuse then start ripping all that stupid out. And what is the small silver box in the upper left of the pic? I saw the word "chips" This scares me very much. Looks like your PO (Previous Owner) was a real 12v "genius." ![]() BTW Welcome! ![]() |

Thank you everyone for the help. I opened up the fuse box and found this. http://i59.tinypic.com/2z3w5qa.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic" I assume the yellow one is the battery fuse. How do I pull it out? This fuse looks different from the ones I have seen before. I did not want to use brute force and break it. Also, the fuse box does not look correct to me, which seems consistent with the comments that everyone has out on here regarding the "custom electrical" work the previous owner has done. Also this is under the fuse box...the grey wire is not connected to anything. Could this be a reason why my car is not even turning? http://i57.tinypic.com/jaxrlv.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a> |

Your main fuse looks good. It is bolted in from the sides. Fuse box is correct too. BUUUUT, Pull your battery and start culling. You have ALOT of going on there. ![]() Good Luck!

Yes, the next step is to follow those wires to where they go to determine what has been added. The grey wire appears to be jumpered into a fused relay (guessing that is what the black box is without being able to see the whole thing). If it is just dead ended and not in with the other wires then it is likely an added circuit and can be removed. Remember what it was hooked up to and the general area where it ended in case it is a repair for a fried wire or something. |
