92 Geo Convertible, turn signals not responsive

Hello all. I just registered and this is my first post, but I have been browsing here for awhile. I am from Ohio and am currently on my second Geo. I recently fell in love with these little cars, and am planning on attending the Geo event later this year in Ohio. I plan on being more involved with the forum as well.

Here is my question. I am not a mechanic, and really just know the basics of automobiles. I have a 92 Geo Convertible that I purchased last fall. It has set in my barn all winter, and I recently got it back out for the spring. When I purchased it in the fall, the turn signals worked great, no issues at all. However, after getting it back out last week, I am getting nothing from the signals. The four way flashers work just fine, but none of the signals work, front or back. The green arrow lights do NOT come on in the console for the turn signals, and there is no audible clicking sound. I have changed the 10 amp signal fuse, as well as the flasher on the backside of the fuse box (what a journey trying to get to that thing) but am still getting nothing. At one point of time the began working after wiggling some fuses around, but that only lasted a short while and they are back to not working again. I have taken it to 3 different auto part stores, and the only thing they recommend is a whole new switch, which is gonna cost me $350 to order and require taking out the steering column. I tend to think it is something more simple then that seeing as it was working before I put it into storage last fall, as well as it temporarily working this spring. I am at a loss. The car otherwise is in really good shape. Any ideas or suggestions on what I can check or what the problem may be? I would be much obliged.

First, I'd take out the flasher, clean the terminals and put it back again. Since it worked for a short period of time, you've probably got a bad/loose/dirty connection.

Thanks for the quick reply! I am trying to figure out the best way to clean the terminal. I had to turn into a monkey to even full the flasher out, not even sure I can properly access the flasher terminal to clean it.

I agree the terminals need cleaned but since the flashers still work I would clean the fuses first. Notice that when you "wiggled the fuse block" they worked for a while?

Check out the second pic in this post, fuse #3. Clean the terminals.

Old Man,

The pictures are not showing up for me, but are you suggesting to clean the 10 amp fuse on the interior fuse panel (under the dash) or do any of the main fuses (under the hood) have anything to do with the turn signal? I think i know the answer to the question, but the fuses that I wiggled and it temporarily worked was the fuses in the main fuse panel under the hood, which to my understand has nothing to do with the turn signal? That is why i am a little confused.

back up lights and turn signals is a 10 amp fuse. It is located in the under dash fuse block, 3rd fuse from the top on the right hand side of the block

check to see if power is getting thru that fuse's connections.
