I have a check eng light on my 06 Isuzu pickup and reg/insp is due. I have been wanting to get a code scanner and try to figger out what is wrong before taking to a shop. Ive been reading up on these gizmos that plug into a data port and via Bluetooth and an app turn a tablet into a scanner. You can diagnose codes, reset them. Also mount the tablet on your dash and use it as a hi-tech gage cluster with all sorts of real time data even an mpg gage! The blue tooth Transmitter is $25 and the pro version of the torque app is $5. Has anybody used this setup and if so how does it work for ya??? |

Works just fine, and I think you can get the adapter for cheaper than 25. |

I run Torque and a samsung 7" tablet for my gauge cluster. Works great! Pics in the second car in my signature. |

If you buy the elm 27, be sure to specify Bluetooth since they come in Bluetooth and wifi. Both look the same, so it is easy to overlook. I use one of each since the IPad App uses wifi. I run the wifi and Bluetooth all the time so I can get into my car with either a droid or iPad and my gauges work without having to switch ELM 27's. For mpg gauges, Torque is the nicest app. Very easy to enter custom gauges too.

You can set up multi dash displays with Torque, so it is easy to take you tablet from one car to another. When I take my tablet out of one of my electric conversions and put it in my gasoline powered Metro, a single swipe on the screen gets rid of all my EV gauges and puts up all my mpg gauges. The downside of using a droid tablet is that they do not have FaceTime. If you like to bullshit with people through your steering wheel, the IPad is better. Although not legal, FaceTime through the steering wheel is pretty slick. |

Torque is the app for your Droid, engine link is the app for iPhone. Torque needs Bluetooth, engine link needs wifi. |
