Need to replace entire exhaust system; exhaust system complete

So I need to replace the entire exhaust system on my '93 2dr Metro 1.0l and I don't weld. I see some threads about direct fit, and I'm wondering is there a system I can buy that will just bolt on from my exhaust manifold back, replacing the Cataylic convertor and the rest of the muffler system to the back? And is there a better system then another, Bosal, Walker, Flowmaster etc.? Also RockAuto, Summit, Ebay etc as far as where to buy? Any info is appreciated, want to do the job myself.

My best advise would be to find a small muffler shop, tell them what you want, and let them do it. ^o) They will have comparable generic products at a much better price. :news For around $200-$250 you should be able to have an all welded, custom bent system, that doesn't rattle, and sounds the way you like. :thumb

I've found that most "direct fit systems" really means "some technical adjusts will be needed". :smackface

Don't be a "Richard"

I'm going to contradict what Snowfish just stated, and recommend the Walker direct fit if you want to do it yourself. (Sorry Snowfish) :hiding

I just ordered the direct fit cat from Rock Auto, and it fit perfectly, and my car has never been more quiet.

Don't get me wrong, I like what Snowfish has recommended, but I like the idea of purchasing all the pieces, and then if one of them goes bad, I can replace just one, and not take it to a shop to have it fixed again.

I guess I'm one of those cheap ass Metro owners that doesn't like anyone working on my cars. :D

In have used both the bosal and walker replacement pipes and mufflers from Rock Auto. Both worked without issues, that said the fit, finish and performance of the Walker quiet flow was vastly superior to the bosal (well worth the price difference in my opinion). The walker muffler is noticeably quieter than the bosal as well. Both systems can be clamped where the pipe enters the muffler - my experience says that clamps on a muffler system always wind up leaking, it's just a matter of when. If you decide to do it yourself I would recommend driving down to the local muffler place and paying them to weld the joint, then you are good to go for years! Good Luck!

Great stuff guys, I actually got a couple quotes today, and now I just have to decide whether or not to have someone else do it for me, getting lazy in my old age. And I do like the having it both ways idea of clamping it together then having it welded. Boils down to an extra hundred bucks to have someone else do it. (Walker system) But shouldn't be too much to have them weld it. Hmmmmm........But thanks for the advice and recommendations. Love this site!

I got a complete system from manifold back (downpipe, cat, resonator and muffler) from my local muffler shop for $150 out the door -- that was a couple of years ago.

Originally they wanted $100 just to replace the muffler. Then I was curious how much to replace everything. Guy told me $200. I said I have $150 in cash and he said OK.

I guess the real question is what exhaust should one buy if they put front and rear sway bars on their 93.

And even if you don't have the bars, you still might want to do that in case you add the bars later.

Not to mention planning clearance for a frame brace ...
