I liked this better than the neon center console. I like the fold up and storage. How strong is this? Something that would last me a week or more? :rofl
Pretty strong, I can't put the majority of my weight on it. I used like 1/2" bolts on it.
It will last ME the life of the vehicle lol idk what that means for YOU tho :p

Was at the wrecker the other day, and came across two 7" LCD screens and a DVD player for $30! DVD player doesn't work but I got the screens to work with one of my other car DVD players. It's from a dodge caravan. Like the drop down type. I don't know where to put the screens though. One for each rear passenger? On in the front, one in the back? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I'd have no use for screens in my Geo...well, ok, I have a kid, she would watch whatever on them, I suppose...but that's what tablets are for these days. So they'd only be there to impress other people.

Well I mounted it where the passenger sunvisor is. Looks pretty good I think, photos tomorrow. Perfect for road trips, watch DVD or anything really because I hooked it up to my previous DVD car radio (it had a video out) it has a video in, so I could even play VHS lmao

When looking right, it doesn't interfere at all.

If you sit in the middle in the back and then from the passenger seat view

DVD player fits nicer in glove box (after I hacked it up lol)
Nice thing about this vs a tablet is that I can hook up an xbox 360 to it, and watch all the DVDs/blurays I have.

Want to guess what I'm doing? :)

That's right prepping to paint!

Half way through, not a crazy difference, just cleaner and a little brighter.

Before and after.

Very easy job! Replaced the valve cover gasket and grommets as well. One of the easier jobs id say.

Also added a intake muffler off a Ford ranger. Updates about it on their way.

the drop screens would be cool for showing off but i suppose not super practical, plus DVD is out of date. I dont even really know how a CD player works or even a dvd player.... but could those screens be used for cameras on the body of the car like rear or front? so as a passanger you could swap between cam A B C or whatever and see cool stuff happen?

I used DVDs all the time lol since I love out in the middle of no where and there are no decent cellular providers to give reasonable internet to watch anything here. DVDs are for me very practical. Lol but yes I can use it as a rear back up or use it to replace my side mirrors. Very easy install for that as well!

Bad news though! Changing my oil about a hour ago. I notice it's LEAKING OIL. Always thought I was burning oil, but it's leaking. Looks like the crank shaft or oil pan area. I'm just gunna replace everything.

New:
crank seal
Cam seal
Oil pan gasket
Valve cover gasket
Paint valve cover RED for extra HP.
new timing belt, even though the timing belt was replaced about 50,000 kms ago.
And clean oil pick up if possible.
Red valve cover for HP. Sounds like you might be another MightyCarMods fan. I can't believe the cold you're dealing with. I've enjoyed every trip I've ever taken to Canada, but good heavens, that's cold!

Very good guess. Love MCM lol yeah this winter was very nice though, about 7 months of average close to -23 or so. Last winter was insane. -63 at times! It's like 1 degree and I'm doing a ton of work on my car because it's so much warmer out! Lol

Yesterday and today I worked on insulating the car for a) warmth as I mentioned it's bloody cold where I am. And b) sound.

Materials used:

3 tall cans of great stuff
One roll of blue skin (peal and stick)
4x8x1.5 sheet of styrofoam

Total cost about $60

I laid the styrofoam on the floor and sprayed foam underneath it and all around it. I sprayed in the rocker guards, and almost every crack possible. I laid the blue skin over the centre mount by the parking brake and gear shift. (Plan on getting more tomorrow and 2x/3x the layers.) I wouldn't recommend the foam on the floor as it makes putting carpet in a PAIN. I took the carpet out and went to the car wash (because the pressure washers there are easily 2x as powerful as what I have.) BROWN water came out for a good 2 minutes. Now it looks brand new. Adding the 1.5" styrofoam has the affect of feeling like the seats are lowered, I countered this by adding seat extensions. Pics will be up tomorrow!

The floor is raised up, but so is my seat so it feels exactly the same as stock, but I can see through the windshield better. Because I'm short. Lol the only place the carpet is screwed up is the centre in the back. Otherwise just had to trim a little here and there and it's all good. I'm happy with it!

Welded up my exhaust yesterday. The second flange was completely rusted apart. So I pulled the resonator of my spare swift and put in place of the flange. I wanted to drop the exhaust and weld it up. When I took the header flange bolts off, they just snapped. So I spent more time welding in bolts to fix the headers then anything else. Gotta love rust! Surprisingly all of exhaust welds are completely sealed. Really wish I had a car lift though. Would cut probably an hour off everything.
