Did the PVC about 10,000kms ago, it's still good. Guess I could get water pump bearing, and alternator gear bearing thing as well?? |

I'll probably have to orde that online as well as the alternator and water pump pulleys. Everything I ordered so far is coming from the west coast! Apparently it's a very rare car. Lol |

So here's the colour I chose for my valve cover, and random parts that will get somewhat hot.![]() I looked in the auto section of the nearest Canadian tire. I originally went for black but decided that silver would look better on the valve cover. The automotive high heat black went to 500F and cost $11.99 The home an garden high heat goes to 1200F intermittently, 600F consistently. Cost $9.99. As well I don't have to bake it at 300F for hours. Once it's dried it's good apparently. I also looked for a cheap gloss black paint in the auto section, cheapest was $9.99. Went to the paint section, found a can of gloss black wood/metal paint...$2.99. I worked at a hardware store paint section and I know that prep is more important, and there is very little difference if any between the cheap paint and the expensive paint. Lol just a money grab, in THIS instance. |

Thanks! It needs all the luck it can get. I do have a parts car with the exact same engine and transmission with only 100,000 kms on it. So this car will survive no matter what! |

Trust me, my car is in much better shape. Lol in manitoba, I'd bet money (how ever bad my cars body is, ie rust) it's one of the best shape geos. There is so much salt on the roads, it kills cars. I once thought of using my car as a parts car, but since it's body is better then any other vehicles I could find, I changed my mind 😂 |

So I plan on using my winter tires from my truck (which recently has been written off) which are 25" tires, vs my 20" I have now. It will be a very close fit. On my old firefly I use to have I had 15" and with the rubber I think it was closer to 23"-24" tires. They fitted fine. Not sure how well these ones will fit though. Still need to find some rims for them. Here are my RPM calculations (correct if I'm mistaken please!) Rpm at 80kph=~3000rpm 25/20=125% 3000rpm/1.25=2400rpm So 20"=3000rpm 25"=2400rpm 600rpm reduction Note: mpg may increase because of rpm reduction, but not 100% as the tires are wider, and weigh more because there are actually more tire. |

You mean just RTV, right? Don't use an actual gasket, like the cork or rubbery ones. Why? Your car is a 96; 96 has crankshaft position sensor; gasket thicker than RTV makes the sensor too far away from what it is sensing (the reluctor; gear with teeth on it.) and your car won't run or will run poorly. |

I'm not sure I follow you. My crank shaft position sensor is isn't on the oil pan though. So how will the thickness of one gasket affect the position of my sensor that's in another location? |

Oh, my mistake. Lol I remember looking underneath and seeing it not on the oil pan. But that was when I installed the hot air intake. Probably all the fumes from painting the exhaust shroud got to my head lol 😂
